I am SO glad they are not matching up Carwin vs Velasques first, otherwise it would eliminate one legit contender, but the UFC know better and is definately doing the right thing.

Carwin will be Lesnars' biggest challenge yet and stands a GREAT chance to beat him. Last night I just re-watched Carwin knock out gonzaga with a shoulder punch (no hips) after eating some serious punches himself and having to fight his way back up, and that was crazy! Lesnar will have his hands full, great match up!

Velasques should definately be matched up next against the winner of Randy vs Minotauro. The winner of said fight gets a title shot.

I would bet they will put Velasques against Mir and have Randy fight Lesner again if Randy beats Nog. Randy's only got one fight left on his contract after his fight with Nog and my guess is they'll want to give him one more big fight. If Randy then wins the title they can negotiate him to fight a few more times. If he losses, he can retire gracefully.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with the Carwin/Lesner fight. Lesner isn't going to be able to take him down as easily as he did Mir. I'd like to see them in the middle of the ring banging out like the two hulking gorillias that they are. I'd like to see Lesner's chin get tested for once.

Well other than Lesnar's media antics, its hard to cheer for the guy. He comes from professional wrestling (prior to that an elite college wrestler, but the pro wrestling is what sticks for most) and just starts winning. He had relatively no experience compared to Couture, and beat him up. He made the heavyweight division look like a joke. How can you respect a division where a 'new guy' with not a very long time of a MMA-specific training was able to come in and dominate. Especially when you have these MMA gym rats who have been working hard for 8 years and yet will never find that success. Is it just because Brock happens to be as big as he is? Is it due to any skill Brock has?

Brock doesn't fight very techincally in stand up. He basically slugs it out, and uses his collegiate wrestling skills to wrap guys up and then slug it out on the ground. His collegiate wrestling + MMA training gives him seemingly good takedown defense and submission defense.

Anyhow, guys who get a lot of success, and quickly, tend to be disliked.
