Best fruit & nuts for paleo

Hi,

I was wondering which are the best fruit and nuts to eat if I'm doing a paleo diet. Thanks

Have you read the book? Did you search the thousands of threads on the Paleo Diet on this site?

Run a search here or on google, this has been covered plenty of times.

I have searched for an answer to this but mostly come up with 'fruit and nuts are fine on the paleo diet'

I want to know which are the best types as I read earlier today that apple wasn't as good as say melons as it is high on fructose.

I am going to order the book but until I get it I need some advice. How about a second post with a quick answer please.

Re: Best fruit & nuts for paleo

I just loaned my mom my book, but walnuts have the best ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6. Most other nuts just have a trace amount.

This isn't from the book, but kinda says the same thing:

(wfs) http://www.annecollins.com/dietary-f...fa-6-chart.htm

Remember, you're not just looking for nuts/oils with a lot of omegas, but with a better ratio of 3 to 6. Good job on buying the book, it's a great resource.

Re: Best fruit & nuts for paleo

Limiting yourself to walnuts and kiwis (??) is going to get old real fast. You are already on a diet (so am I) that eliminates most of what people are used to eating (grain, dairy, legumes). Try to increase the variety of foods you consume. Nuts -> walnuts, macadamia, pecan, almonds, cashew... (no peanuts).
Fruit -> All of them, including melons. Try something new every week.
Eat all kinds of meat, fish and seafoods.

Re: Best fruit & nuts for paleo

I don't consider Paleo a "diet" per se, more of a way of life. You're chosing to eat foods that are best to fuel your body.
If you're trying to lose weight, limit your nuts & seeds intake., but I agree, walnuts are the best, out of the nuts.

The book will give you a lot of information. It will give you the low-dwon on to eat & what to avoid. There's meal plans & recipes (including recipes to make Paleo condiments) that will help make planning easier.

I do not understand why some must give such jerky answers. There are no dumb questions Doug just dumb people who act like jerks.

Jerky....

You do understand that pointing out the obvious and being a jerk are two different things? I was not a jerk at all.
