Digital Camera for under $150
Could anyone recommend a digital camera for under $150? I will be using this a lot for taking action shots of CrossFit workouts.
Thanks! |

Re: Digital Camera for under $150
Check out Cnet.com for their reviews, better then getting 50 different opinions with 50 different cameras
BTW, I have a Cannon A560(discontinued), as they keep improving the camera's. Many places to buy on line. You can get a good camera for your 150 budget. |

Re: Digital Camera for under $150
The Canon SD1200 is above your price range, but well worth the money (WFS):
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw...powershot+sd12 Amazon is currently shipping it for $189. My wife has the SD1100 (the old version of this camera) and I have used other older Canon models as well. I love this line of Canons- I have traveled all over the world and used and abused these cameras, and they keep taking great pictures. And, Canon keeps making them better and better! |

Re: Digital Camera for under $150
I highly recommend the Canon Powershot SD series for the average user interested in good quality point and shoot and decent video for cheap. Especially the SD1100; Canon is really good at their entry level models. It retails for $150 or slightly more, but if you hang around the deal sites, every so often they can be had for about $100. Check out www.slickdeals.net or similar dealsites as there's a good entry level camera deal about once a week. Read some of the forum replies on the deals too as most of the people there are tech geeks and will know the good from the bad pretty easily. Oh yeah make sure you get an IS (Image Stabilization) model as that feature is pretty much a must.

Casio Exilims are really good and very portable, and they're under $150.

Maybe you should consider getting a Flip HD camera. I think they are $179 at Amazon. Very cool cameras, super easy to dl to you computer and you can pull stills. Rslution is 720P. Pretty amazing for under $200.

Re: Digital Camera for under $150
Ehh... I wouldn't trust cnet for reviews... or anything really.
I don't have any experience with Canon PowerShots, but I've been looking for a camera, and they seem to have the best ones. It's out of your price range, but I've been considering the Canon PowerShot SD780 IS or the Canon PowerShot SD990 IS. There's a forum at http://forum.digitalcamerareview.com (WFS). You fill out a bunch of questions and users can suggest some very good digital cameras. I don't go there for reviews though. There was a site, I don't remember the name, and I hope it's still around, that does some actually really great reviews. They test out pretty much everything you can test out on a digital camera, both in a controlled environment and in the real world. So in a controlled environment they'll take a picture of a grid (precision), some pictures of toys (colors, sharpness, brightness). Then they'll take it into a city to take some night shots (how it performs in a dark setting), skyscrapers (precision), and a few day shots (colors, sharpness). They also test out different settings/features of the camera, looked at the noise, and see if it actually did what it was supposed to do. These weren't just professionals DSLR cameras, they also did P&S cameras as well. If I ever find it again, I'll be sure to post it. |

Haha, John, you had to recommend the Flip. Now I want a video camera AND a photo camera. Thanks for all the tips, everyone.
