Rachel's workout log

So...I've been doing crossfit since 4/16/09. Finally getting a workout log going I don't really remember life before CF! Thanks to Greg and Erin for being so amazingly knowledgable, motivating, and PATIENT!

I guess I'll just start by posting today's workout.

"Cindy"
AMRAP 20 min
5 pullups - purple band
10 pushups - purple band attached to purple band hanging from pullup bar (pushups done on toes instead of knees)**
15 squats - below parallel - FINALLY

**you'll all soon realize that I use tons of different band contraptions to help me out**

10 ROUNDS + 5 pullups, 10 pushups, 13 squats. 2 squats short of 11 rounds! PR - YAY

My previous PR on 5/14 was 10 rounds (knee pushups) - so this was a tougher workout since I did pushups in the "real pushup position." Pushups still were BY FAR, the hardest part of the workout. Pullups felt easy the whole time.

Re: Rachel's workout log

6/11/09

Slept in today after being up way too late last night. Working until midnight does NOT agree with me! Today is a rest day for me after 3 days of CF in a row. I loved doing "Cindy" yesterday, but boy am I sore today!

Looking forward to whatever tomorrow brings.

BTW, I have been OUTRAGEOUSLY frustrated by anything related to a power clean/squat clean/hang clean...you get the drift? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome this mental block?

Thanks!

Amrap in 20 minutes
15 sandbag cleans
12 ring dips
12 ab rollouts

4 rounds exactly
Notes:
First time EVER using 50lb sandbag! Form could be better, but was very happy to move up from 25lbs!
Ring dips were done with foot in one section of the purple band
Ab rollouts done with purple band attached to purple band -- these felt too easy, but I'm not ready to do them unassisted. Will just need to keep practicing!

I was pouring sweat at the end of this, and actually had to sit down for a while before heading out on my long walk home. (This MAY have something to do with the 2.5 drinks I had last night. I'm a lightweight!)

Anyway, it was a great workout. As always, inspired by Carol's strength and form. I'll get there eventually...maybe?!?

Thanks Greg It wasn't pretty, but I did it.

6/14/09
33 walking lunges
21 pullups
7 ab wheel rollouts
33 walking lunges
18 pullups
6 ab rollouts
33 walking lunges
15 pullups
5 ab rollouts
33 walking lunges
12 pullups
4 ab rollouts
33 walking lunges
9 pullups
3 ab rollouts
33 walking lunges
6 pullups
2 ab rollouts

Time: 20:33 - Erin had given us a 30 minute cap. Was proud that I didn't need it.

Notes:
1. There were a ton of people in this class, and limited stations for assisted ab rollouts...so I tried to do ab rollouts unassisted. I was able to do 4 in the first round, then needed to go back to double purple band assisted for the rest of them. I would have sacrificed a lot of form and probably injured myself if I kept trying unassisted.
2. The pullups were all done with purple band (foot.) These felt pretty easy the entire time. BUT, I do not have a dead hang pullup yet. So, I will just have to keep working so I can start to get rid of the purple band!
3. I really liked this workout for some reason.
4. I learned that pullups on the bar with the smaller diameter are easier than the original pullup bar, which is wider.

That's the beauty of CrossFit - it's not always about pretty.

It's no small thing to be throwing that 50 around...

Thanks Ross It's nice to see improvements, even if the "in between" stages aren't so graceful!

Today was a forced rest day due to no morning CF sessions. (granted, I could have done SOMETHING at home...but I am NOT an "at home worker outer" -- don't have the motivation!)

Legs are sore from the walking lunges yesterday, but can't wait to get back to work tomorrow!

Thanks Greg!!! I have NEVER been so excited about a workout accomplishment in my life!

Run 5k

This was definitely not my favorite wod. I ran with Mike Price...it was great to have a running buddy, but it's tough to weave in and out of traffic, stop at stoplights, try not to get lost, etc. :-) I didn't time it exactly, but it was probably around a 10 minute mile. Hopefully this will get better, since I was down to at least a 9-9:15 minute mile last fall.

HOWEVER, on a supercalifragilisticexpialadocious note...I DID 2 KIPPING PULLUPS TODAY UNASSISTED!

Today is my 2 month anniversary with Crossfit, and I finally did a pull up. WOOHOO!
