Fabulous...now that's what I'm talking about! :biggrinthumb:

That's precisely my goal in a fight...I absolutely, positively do NOT intend to get tired....

Thanks for the link...

Watched a Rocky marathon on Independence Day...

(Shows Rocky shirtless for a moment, but I'd call it safe. And yes, it's related.)

That montage views like a monument to functional, compound movements over machine work. Honestly now...

Several of those movements could easily be added into a garage gym or home workout area- and for almost NO money!

Fun video. That workout would cause an asthma attack and kill me, but I'd like to try some of it. I've always wanted a sledgehammer station (okay, not always, but I like chopping wood so...) I posted this video over on a friend's school's board.

Kat - that's the right attitude. Train your hardest to make sure you've got the energy to go hard the whole distance. You'll almost certainly get tired in your first fight anyway. I did, and so has every other fighter I've asked. Your body just goes into fight-or-flight and it's hard to regulate your energy expenditure. You do get better at it as you fight more, though - you learn to expend just enough for what you're doing and not waste energy. Good luck! My first fight was my one genuine after-that-everything-was-different experience...I hope it's nothing but upside for you too!

Peter (I hope this isn't a thread hijacking technically...after all, Sherk is training for the purposes of fighting :proud:),

Thanks for sharing that experience...it definitely confirms what my trainer tells me...much different scenario when someone is throwing punches, kicks and elbows at me as hard as they can (rather than someone holding the Thai Pads or sparring with the girls that weigh much less than I do)...which is my main attraction to Crossfit...my recovery time is much quicker than the more experienced fighters at this point...

The biggest challenge for me is to maintain the technique during that sympathetic response...meaning, I won't pick the girl up and throw her down on the mat (a habit from wrestling with brothers while I was growing up)...

I'm convinced I need to get a rope...I am all about that horizontal rope action (I'm still thinking about the places I can hang ropes and rings outside of the house that are both sturdy and safe...)...and yes, I would totally be outside slinging away with a sledgehammer beating the cr** out of a tire (I'm nutty enough to try and simulate Sherk's training just to see what if feels like...training is a pleasurable form of suffering for me wooo hooo :wallbash:...

Yeah! Crossfit...freakin rocks!

I'm all "ears" if anyone has recommendations on Crossfit training techniques they have found really assists in fight training (I realize it is a functional schematic as a whole)...

Thanks in advance...
