diet soda is off limits too. anything with artificial sweetners are not allowed. so any of the refined corn syrups. they put that stuff in everything from bread to peanut butter. basically if you go to the grocery store just shop around the outsides and stay out of the aisles. so the produce, dairy, and meat departments are golden.

I did the first 21 day version of this challenge and it was fantastic. I'm totally onbard. Thanksgiving day will be a challenge. Actually, it will be an epic fail.

Re: Kick the Sugar/Grains habit Challenge II

I'm in.

I was on the fence for a while, 'cause I really like splenda in my cappuchino in the morning, and icecream, etc.... but I did the coffee this morning without splenda and I survived. So I'm making it official so that people will hold me accountable.

Personal rules:
1. Pulses, beans and potatos are okay. I'm holding to the no grains being corn, wheat, oats, rice, etc.
2. Phyllo dough is my one allowed "vice". I have an unholy attachment to it.
3. I will log my food consumption: I'm holding myself to less than 100g of carbs a day to ensure I don't go overboard with 1 and 2.
4. Thanksgiving is a cheat day.
5. My last day is 14 December as I am going to PR on the 15th and need to have tropical drinks with umbrellas while I am there.

Buy-in: I don't have too much pantry cleaning to do. Other people's candy and vending machines at work are my real vice. But I donated my special stash of Trader Joe's triple ginger snaps to the coffee mess.

Question: I usually eat Greek yogurt with a large dollop of honey on top for snacks, etc. Any reccomended subs? I was thinking of an all fruit jam or putting a piece of fruit in the blender.

I used to thaw some frozen mixed berries, and along with some shredded coconut and sliced almonds stir into greek yogurt.

Ok, I'm in too. Today will be day #1. So I'll take it until 17 Dec. I've already made Thanksgiving plans to cheat, but I can take it easy that day. I will be having pie. Everything else will probably be near good anyway.

Re: Kick the Sugar/Grains habit Challenge II

Just to demonstrate my devotion to the cause, yesterday was my dad's B-day, complete with cherry pie, ice cream, and lots of good beer. I confined myself to tuna steak, asparagus, and let myself cheat (I can't remember what we said about alcohol) with two glasses of my dad's homemade hard cider (no sugar added). I'm pretty damn proud. I'm sure they had fermented apples in the paleolithic, so I'm not even counting that as a cheat.

Keep up good work, everyone.

Re: Kick the Sugar/Grains habit Challenge II

in the last challenge there was a 50 burpee consequence to cheating. do we want to do that for this challenge?

i do believe honey is ok. i think it falls into the same category as fruit in that the sugar occurs naturally, but just like fruit i believe it should be limited.

Re: Kick the Sugar/Grains habit Challenge II

I'm contemplating this one. I think I'm going to try and cut bread out of my diet slowly and see how that goes.

I've already been following a paleo-zone diet for a little over a week now, but I'll subscribe to this for some extra motivation .. gotta make sure I don't stray from the straight-and-narrow, hah.

Re: Kick the Sugar/Grains habit Challenge II

Ok I am on board. Since Scotland doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving, I will just take a cheat day on my birthday which happens during this 30 days.
