Re: Hardcore Elite Challenge

Well, it's been a couple days. How's everyone feeling?

My hips seem to have opened up more as well as my ankles/calves seem more flexible. I seem to move weights faster via a better hip extension. I also am starting to just feel better in general.

I still don't think I spend enough time on flexibility and mobility. I think that I'm going to try and work more of it into my evenings when I'm just watching a movie or some TV.

Re: Hardcore Elite Challenge

That's a great idea Charles. My post workout stretching takes more time than my actual workout

Then I'm pretty sure that you're the minority.

Re: Hardcore Elite Challenge

Count me in - I'm doing the burpee challenge (I agree totally with your comments about the challenges - I'm just daft). I think doing this will help counteract some of the effects.

Re: Hardcore Elite Challenge

Just started working on my third-world squatting the other day...all I can say is ouch! My legs must be really out of shape to hurt that much. It's a shame that comfortable living has let my muscles get so atrophied, but I'm going to change that.

Even after a couple consistent days the difference should be quite noticeable.

Re: Hardcore Elite Challenge

If only everyone would do this we'd have a lot less overuse injuries and jacked up training schedules. CF deservedly has a bad name because people get into these outrageous challenges well before they are ready (if they should be done at all...) and overtrain, real progress stalls, or at worst injury occurs.

This one, however, is the first challenge that could actually promote rather than hinder progress. Good on ya Charles

Re: Hardcore Elite Challenge

Pretty awesome idea, Charles.

I've been doing the third world squat for a couple minutes every time I have a conference call - and working from my home office, that's quite a few a day usually. Having some pain in the front of my left ankle, though, from an old injury. I have noticeably less flexibility in the left as a result of it.

Doing lots of foam roll and stretching too (after warming up), as a result of a pulled hamstring 3 weeks ago. It's still not 100% healed, but getting better.

Bad luck w/injuries lately. Getting old I guess...

Re: Hardcore Elite Challenge

I'm glad you guys appreciate the challenge. I really think that active recovery methods are most definitely the most neglected aspect of the Crossfit methodology.

...And also the one thing that would catapult people's success in fitness at a rapid pace...
