Re: Justin McGinley - I want to be a Monster

Saturday September 27th, 2008

CROSSFIT TRIBE's Grand Opening.

Fight Gone Bad

227

This was my first large group Fight Gone Bad, and part of the Athletes for a Cure: 2008 CrossFit Fight Gone Bad III event. It is a different workout when you are running from station to station, doing it with a group other people. Fun time. Amazing food afterwards provided by http://betterfoodbetteryou.com/

My Metcon ability isn't where I want it to be. I was out of breath sooner than I wanted to be. Lots of room for improvement.

Re: Justin McGinley - I want to be a Monster

Thanks for the comment on my log. My favorite moment of the event was when you fell on the box jumps and I looked around and everyone was worried that you were hurt, and then I looked back and you were just laughing and got back to jumping.

That was great...sorta. I am amazed I didn't get hurt. That fall happened in slow motion and there was nothing I could do to stop it. Everyone had the same reaction. I got so many "I thought you were hurt until I saw you laughing" comments after the workout.

Note to self: When doing box jumps, land with both feet on the box!

Re: Justin McGinley - I want to be a Monster

Workout at gym.

Some single arm overhead dumbbell squats (I suck at these)
Lots of Barbell overhead squats.
Some dumbbell push presses

Then, once my shoulders were destroyed from all of that overhead work, I decided to do 10 rounds of Cindy. Not the best idea.

10:01

Pullups and squats were lightening fast, and the last 5 sets of pushups were broken into multiple sets. I just had no shoulder strength from the overhead stuff. When fresh, I expect this to be under 8 minutes, maybe under 7.

And then

10 clapping pullups

Never tried these before. Easier than expected. My pullups are getting a lot more explosive.

I like everything...except the Cindy. WHY? WHY THE CINDY?

...anyway. Congrats on the clapping pullups. Do I get to see one tomorrow? And...YAY DBs! It's high time we DB snatched. What am I running from?

Because, for the first time in a few weeks, it didn't hurt my forearm to do pullups. Not sure why. So it had to be done. Is that tomorrow's workout at the Tribe? I'll be there tomorrow to do some clapping pullups.

DB snatches are harder than I expected them to be. Which means I should probably be doing more of them.

OOooh, Adam. If I do that I'm pretty sure Rachel will never let me visit her at Mcwhatevers again. A bunch of them did Fran a few weeks ago. You're welcome to come out to open gym on Tuesday and give heavy Fran a ring...

I love that I know I can post this here and you'll read it.

Fine, as long as we make use of the new pull-up bar I am happy
