Oly lifting classes near Atlanta

Hi

I have been looking at Crossfit for a wile now and have tried a few WOD's but due to the lack of Crossfit affiliates in the UK it is hard to learn the oli lifts.

I am coming to the US in August for 1 month and for the majority of it I will be staying with family near Atlanta ( i say near it is about 45 mins from Atlanta airport a place called Suwanee). I wanted to use the opportunity to make a few trips to a Crossfit centre to hopefuly learn some of the correct ways to do the Oli lifts.

This leads be to my question. Can anyone point me in the direction of an affiliate that would provide what I am looking for and that is not too far from where I am staying?

Thanks for your help

Ben

Hi Ben,

have you tried contacting the British Weightlifting Association http://www.bwla.co.uk (WFS), they might be able to put you in contact with a local coach.

Hello Ben-Suwanee is north of Atlanta as you might already know. The closest CF Affliate would be Sonz Buford http://buford.sonzexercise.com which is very close to Suwanee. Ironically there's a CF O-lift cert Aug 2-3 near there as well (Flowery Branch); however they've been sold our for some time now. Best bet is Sonz. Good luck and safe travels.

sign up on www.goheavy.com in the Olympic weightlifting forum and post that you are looking for an Oly coach in your specific area. Generally a good way to find a coach!

Hey Ben,

Do I have great news for you! Crossfit Atlanta (www.crossfitatlanta.com) actually has Olympic lifting classes every Monday for beginners at 7:30 or Thursdays for advanced at 8:30. They are taught by a good friend of mine- Chandler Alford. He is amazing, he tried out for the olympics this year and is ranked 17th in the country. His coach is CJ Stockel, who you might have heard of.

Anyways- I definitely recommend the classes. They are in small groups, usually 5-10 people. Here is the link if you want more info:
