Rogue Fitness bar vs. Pendlay Economy HD bar

Hello all,

I'm about to order a bar to use with the bumper set I just ordered. As of right now, it's basically between the Rogue fitness bar and the Pendlay economy HD bar with powerlifting markings. I'm doing the slow lifts, and while I will be olympic lifting at some point, I'm not doing anything beyond power cleaning now. It seems as if the two bars are very similar in both price and specs:

Rogue bar: (219+43 shipping) http://www.roguefitness.com/catalog/...roducts_id=386

Pendlay economy HD Bar w/powerlifting markings and center knurling: (229+43 shipping; Not the exact link, his website doesn't list the HD bar) http://store.wfwclub.com/bars.html

The last option, and the cheapest- which is good- is getting the crossfit bar. I'd save around 50 dollars, which, in the grand scheme of things isn't very much for a lifelong investment. I will most likely never be squatting more than 400 and change, deadlifting 500 and change, or C+J or snatching more than 300. It sounds as if many are happy with their crossfit bars, and I would be too- so long as the black oxide is enough to keep the bar from slipping off of my sweaty back during heavy back squats.

The Rogue bar carries with it a lifetime protection against bending, though I imagine I will never be clean and jerking or snatching enough weight to have to use that.

Any stories, anecdotes, personal experiences, hates, likes, dislikes, loves, etc., to share about either or both bars?

You can't really go wrong there. I like Pendlay just because I've seen how he deals with his customers. Not that Rogue does a poor job because I haven't heard anything bad about them either.

Update:

Impatience, being a virtue despised by my bank account, got the best of me. I went with the Pendlay HD power bar, with powerlifting markings and center knurling.

I figured I could have gone with the crossfit bar, but for only 60 dollars more I could get exactly the bar I wanted, and never really need to purchase another bar. The center knurling and powerlifting markings sealed the deal over the rogue bar.

I'll write up a review as soon as I get the bar!

I'm sure you'll be happy with that purchase.

Steven,
We take 4 of the HD bars to task daily and we love them. (also 4 of the CF bars, which we equally love) Glenn will stand behind his product, he is an outstanding guy to deal with. You couldn't have -and didn't make a bad choice.

I haven't used the Rogue bar, so I can't speak to that but I imagine it is a great product, too.

Enjoy your bar!
Laurie

I would have gone through wright, but he had none left. On the bright side, for how I lift, the powerlifting markings and center knurling were worth paying a bit extra for shipping and the bar and getting it through pendlay. Of course, I doubt he'll be quite as good with getting the bar shipped out, as wright got my order in on Monday and I should be receiving the bumpers today or tomorrow.

Just to be clear, the Rogue bar has the powerlifting markings as well, but does not have the center knurling.

Wow, same here! UPS says I have bumpers out for delivery today!

My pendlay tracking number isn't showing anything at all, though. Weird.

Neither is mine; I've heard that Jason is extremely good about getting things out, though I haven't heard the same thing about Pendlay.

To be fair, Glenn isn't only in the business of selling things, and has a coaching job, gym, and life to contend with outside of his business.

I do, however, hope the bar comes post haste, as I've got my Squat stands coming in relatively soon too.
