What is the best tabata wrist watch?

My old stop watch died and I'm looking for the best wrist watch with a tabata timer. Thanks for the suggestions.

I don't know about which watch would be best, but if you listen to music when you work out, there is an old thread/post here with a link that allows you to put music into a format that goes quiet during the 10 sec of rest. There is also one that will work on the computer and maybe a blackberry that cracks a whip for the intervals.
Use Tabata Timer in the search function to find the threads.

Re: What is the best tabata wrist watch?

I've got a regular old timex watch where I can set timer for 30secs to beep each 30 secs. The cool thing is that the beep lasts 10 secs. So once I let it run through the first half minute, I do my 20 seconds on (with the silence) and the 10 seconds off (with the beeping). Low budget solution if you don't want iPod wires or gadgets.

Re: What is the best tabata wrist watch?

Timex makes several watches that have interval functions, but I've found that the "beep" is much too low to be heared in a gym. The "beep" on the timer (what Wade is talking about) is fine, but the one for intervals is too soft.

I'd recommend getting a g.y.m.b.o.s.s. timer. It's cheap, easy to use, and perfect for Tabatas.

Like Keith said, run a search. There have been numerous threads on watches and timers.

Really??? I like my Timex, I actually can't hear the other thing whose name won't appear if I type it and stopped using it because of that. I find the timex perfect because it beeps for 10 seconds, so I just set it at 30 second intervals and rest during the beeps.

To each their own.

I set my watch on 10 sec intervals that keep repeating...the first beep marks halfway, the second beep to stop, the third beep to start again...rinse, repeat

Consider the Garmin Forerunner 205. It's a GPS watch, but it also has an awesome interval timer. The beep is plenty loud and it has countdown beeps to let you're on the last 5 seconds of your round/rest period.

And oh yeah, if you run, this watch does all kinds of really cool things, like letting you know what your mile/minute pace is.

Re: What is the best tabata wrist watch?

Thanks for the suggestions.

When I run a message board search, most of the threads are old and discuss watches no longer available. The "boss of the gym" came up quite a bit, along with why I have to type it in these silly quotes. I'm not sure if the "boss of the gym" is a good product or not considering all that I've read is suspect. It is also not a wrist watch.

I'd love a "Crossfit" wrist watch I can use for running, intervals, tabata, the works, and not two or three different timing devices.

Loud beeps are essential. We use the Sekio SO75 at my gym.

http://www.bodytronics.com/PROD/SE57

It is a hand held interval timer stop watch that beeps for 3..2...1... until a series of beeps signals the end. If some company makes this Sekio watch as a wrist watch, I'm sold.

Any thoughts on the new Ironman watch with an ipod controler built in?
