Jesse,
What exactly does a "Parkour jam" consist of? I'm intrigued... |

Excellent. I'll try to make it along with possibly Jim if he's free.

Basically we just meet up with everybody who's interested and spend the day travelling from one good training spot to the next, sessioning each one until we've completely tapped it out. It's much like a regular training session, but you tend to stay in the same general area for longer because there are more people there. It's fun to get out with people and gain new insight on possible techniques through the same environment that you might not have thought of before. It's not anything that's precisely planned or anything, just basically wandering the city, finding the good spots to train and having at it :D
Hope to see you guys there!...and I hope my back is better by then :-\ |

Does this stem from the ancient tradition of running from the law?

No but it sure helps when you need to *grin*. Now that would be fun. Crossfit police chase crossfit "explorer". Fun all around.

Ian, you must be getting quite a workout by now from all those *grins*!
Jesse, I was wondering...The Smooth flow we see in videos.... Do you usually go all out on a "course" you pretty much know and have charted in your mind, or would you go ahead exploring new territory at that tempo? I would think the latter would involve some pretty nasty injuries when you would come face to face with inevitable surprises along your path... |

I think the only time I would go all-out on an unkown course would be an emergency situation. I try to stress to everybody the importance of knowing the quality of your surfaces and making sure there are no hidden objects that could cause injury. I'll usually take a slow run through a new area, paying close attention to where the loose bricks, slick steps, broken glass, etc. might be. This helps to assure that the potential for injury is kept at a minimum.

I think youve done a great job formulating a safe approach to something that initially seems random and risky. Very cool. I'll try and check you out in Bethesda, shoot me the details if you can. I'm still waiting for your debut on Sunday... |

Jesse,
Speaking of emergency situations...is there any legal framework in the US to justify a traceur being arrested? BTW, you used to have an older video that you posed a while ago...It had you jump rope in the beginning if that helps... |
