My new DIY rings and Salmon Ladder

The Salmon Ladder is the one-rung ladder that I made - it's from the Japanese TV show "Sasuke". You do an explosive pullup and shove the rung up to the next set of notches - rinse and repeat.

Re: My new DIY rings and Salmon Ladder

I just followed the instructions (for the most part) that I found on this forum. The dimensions aren't exact (I just eyeballed stuff as I went along since I dodn't write down the specs). Basically 2 pieces of 1/2" plywood (cheap stuff from the cull lumber pile at HD) and a tube of construction adhesive. I applied the adhesive liberally and set about 150 pounds of weights on top of the plywood and let it sit for about 2 weeks (busy times you know) to cure. I then simply drew concentric circles about 1.25" apart and then cut with a RotoZip and used a 1/2" roundover bit on a router to get the round edges. I simply used a rough file to knock some small imperfections down and the rings are smooth. Since I couldn't find my compass attachment for my RotoZip, my cuts are not perfectly circular. I had to file the circular cuts down prior to routering since the roundover bit follows the bearing which follows the outline of whatever you are shaping.

The grip is great and the rings are quite strong - I cannot feel any give even when pulling my hardest - I weigh 165. The rings also weigh about 1 pound for both rings total - very light.

Very impressive. I thought about making the salmon ladder myself. Thanks.
