Board shorts

How come every male crossfitter in the videos wears board shorts when they crossfit? Is there something I don't know about board shorts? Is it a personal preference or recommended?

Re: Board shorts

The main reason is because HQ is in Santa Cruz, which is a beach town and surf community.

I wear 'em (mainly because I lost my other shorts) and they work well if you have good underwear on (Under Armour or something similarly skintight). They just move around on top of you like a stiff sheet and don't get caught anywhere.

Re: Board shorts

I wondered about that myself. I used to wake board a good bit, and have several pairs, but never thought about hitting the gym in them.
Wonder if it would lower my Fran time?

Re: Board shorts

Wasn't trying to waste anyone's time. Just something I had noticed watching alot of videos. Didn't know if I had missed something Coach passed or Crossfiters had just found to be the best way. Thanks for the input.

Re: Board shorts

MMA Shorts which are basically derived from board shorts work great as well. Good affordable ones can be found here (WFS): Cage Walk

Hope this helps,

Re: Board shorts

I just wear jeans or army pants (politics aside, the army has some pretty stinking good tailors).

Re: Board shorts

Buck the trend, no matter the culture/subculture. Wear what's functional, inexpensive, and comfortable, even if you're the only one.

Re: Board shorts

If I ever spend over $10 for a pair of workout shorts I'll shoot myself in the face. If it's good enough for junior high PE, it's good enough for your gym.
