Re: $200 prize one arm bar hang

Tim: I would venture a yes. I haven't really seen increases in grip strength from hook grip as opposed to normal. Shrug.

In any case, back on topic.. I'm probably not gonna participate. Too much of a hassle. David has a better shot anyway as a climber.

haha...don't be so quick to shoot yourself down. remember that isometric strength is limited to a small range around the particular joint position...that applies to grip strength as well. you probably spend a lot more time on a bar than i do, so you might have a good shot.

p.s. did 1:13 today, but i tore some skin coming off my rings!

Matt, Where are you looking up these records?

Anyway I think we are a bit off the subject, but if folks are out there trying this one arm hang from a suspended olympic bar that has rotation in it, good luck, not sure if it is harder or not.

Re: $200 prize one arm bar hang

Can't believe someone did 350LB with one finger, OUCH!

A master no less, age 42.

Hmmm. I did 330 in a trap bar deadlift before, looks like I could be the Master WR, when I hit 40 later this year.
My BW is 144-145

Re: $200 prize one arm bar hang

"Overhead Bar Squat No Clean--2 judges--bar is taken from squat stands and then Jerked or Pressed overhead--when the lifter is ready, they must squat parallel or below with the bar held overhead--no qrip allowed over 32". Lifter must wait for the "Down" signal. "

Aug 26th Records:

Tony Essig-20, Men 200 Class
Overhead Bar Squat = 170

That doesn't seem like much of a record. I can easily beat that as can a lot of other CFers.

they ask for a grip no wider than 32". most people OHS with a grip that is much wider. a narrow-grip OHS with anything close to bodyweight is pretty impressive...

Re: $200 prize one arm bar hang

105.02 seconds, according to frame analysis and a timer on the video with 1/100th's The exact moment the hang started and the exact moment the hand came off the bar.

Going for 115 seconds tomorrow, I'll let you know

Re: $200 prize one arm bar hang

There is some crazy stuff there. If you look at this one
http://oddlifts.com/rep_weight_class_bench_press.html
Seems pretty easy records, I have benched my weight in competition 40 times. I won the ARnold pump and run 2006, but they stop you at 30 reps for a max bonus, and there were plenty of guys who did that, it just came down to the 5k run time as they all got the max bonus.
Looks like the World Championships they call it are in March every year.
