Re: 40+ pull ups
I just did grace today... 5:55
then after we did max pushups, 58 and max pullups... I got 40. I probably could have gone for 1 or 2more but I didn't want to rip my hands up and my grip was going. I haven't trained for this. Just about 4 months of CrossFit. I started with 21 deadhang pullups b4 I crossed over to CrossFit's kips. |

Re: 40+ pull ups
I can do 40 pull ups. I'm new to crossfit, so I am not familiar with all of the methods advocated here.
The way I increased pull ups was doing them regularly, adding weight, and always locking out on my extension and getting above the bar with my chin. A typical workout would be, 15 reps warm up (no weight) 10 reps with 45# added 7 reps with 70# added 4 reps with 90# added Negative rep with 135# added (someone would assist me up and I'd go down as slow as possible) I did something similar to this about twice a week and periodically threw in days that were more focused on reps. I had some friends I worked out with, so we'd do something like see who can get the most total pull ups in 20 sets...or how few sets can you use to get to 200 pull ups. |

Re: 40+ pull ups
I have done 40 + pull-ups before, but that was back when I was climbing HARD!
I would say that I have seen some climbers pull of some pretty impressive things when it comes to pulling motion. Fred Nicole has done pinky finger one arm pull-ups, as well as the huber brothers in Austria. I would be pretty psyched to be able to do 200+ pull ups and one arms pull-ups. |

Re: 40+ pull ups
I was able to work up to 30 pullups, and then started to overuse GTG, aiming to get in at least 100 pulls a day, and 1000 a week
in 1.5 weeks, i hit 32 pulls in 3 weeks, i hit 40. now ive stopped, because i was negleecting my pushups, but that worked for me fairly well hope that helps |
