Many of you guys already know my fitness goals. These are:
1. To succesfully negotiate my country's Underwater Demolitions School. (A sister program to the US Navy SEALs BUD/S) 2. To be crossfit in life. That is, reach the level of fitness nature demands of us. Since #1 is my more short-term and less generic (objective-wise NOT fitness-wise) goal, a constant reevaluation of my progress and distance from my goal is a frequent thing. With Crossfit I have soared past old plateaus and the numbers as well as how well I feel is a testament to that. Apart from the few itty bitty problems with constipation, my diet is working real well too, and is as complete, varied, and true to what I believe in macroscopically as it could ever be. I still have a lot to learn and really look forward to it. I have pasted below a post I made at another site and thought you folks would really have diamond input to offer! Here goes... The basic objective of these questions is to try and define what delivers performance increases in a possible "Crossfit Super-Attribute", or a combination of Crossfit attributes... durability. |

Steve, thanks for the response.
I (mistakenly?) assumed that I had answered questions with regard to the philosophical question "Are there things outslide our control?". Obviously. My questions were more like, does running strengthen my joints? Does the strength of any muscle also act as a guard against its own injury? Does a healthy ingestion of vitamins really contribute toward fighting off fever, pneumonia or even occasional hypothermia? Does it help the individual fight off any of the symptoms? In other words, do any of the above help bare the malady? Obviously you can only do so much, but why not prepare yourself in the best possible way? Mostly everyone keeps saying that 90% of BUD/S is mental, but does that mean that we should stay in moderate shape and just tough it out? No, we should give ourselves all the tools we need. As a very helpful SF guy replied to me once "You will find that the better shape you are in the less you have to tap into those mental reserves". So any tools I give my immune system and muscles to fight disease and injury off, are tools most welcome. |

Okay my lab tests aren't as thorough here as science would dictate but here's something I noticed today (Also relevant to the previous post)
I am currently running on a 39.6deg (Celcius) fever, something which hasn't hapenned in the past 3-4 years. Apart from the initial cold shivers which were noted at 38.4 degress, I feel fine! First thng that sprang to mind was the thermometer was wacky. Tried a different one, same reading... I've taken two Tylenol Cold pills thusfar but I'm pretty sure it isn't the painkillers that's eliminating shivers, dizziness, and improving my overall bearing of the fever... I know that some of my questions are answered (and perhaps affirmatively) by my diet, but what exactly are those tools which I may be getting but can't obviously notice? Am I seeing the first signs of an overall improved health level? Seems too good to be true... Sorry for the long post...it seems that Crossfit+Paleo+Painkillers may also be increasing typing speed... |
