Snatch vs. clean & Jerk?

Hey, just wondering what the difference between the two is in terms of muscles used/power/benefit/ etc..? Does doing a C&J give you roughly the same benefits as the snatch?

They are similar. The snatch is less forgiving of bad habits. The clean & jerk allows more weight.

People who can do the snatch well rarely have much problem with the clean & jerk. The reverse is not always true; there are many folks who can clean big weights but can't snatch worth beans.

Also, C+J takes longer to recover from then the snatch (at max efforts...) Not sure if it's because it's more work or because you can go heavier with C+J.

Probably a little bit of both.
