On Tuesday I decided to punish myself with Painstorm. 500 Thrusters at 45lbs.
It took my 46 mins to complete and I was knackered. Anyway, about half was through one of "them" (read musclehead) was patiencely waiting for me to finish so he could use the rack. After about 5 mins of just staring he approached me and asked how long I was gonna be? After racking the bar and wiping the sweat and tears from my eyes I simply stated that I have 220 more REPS to go then it is all yours. His faced dropped and he turned away in anger. I could see him •••••••• about me to his friends that I was hogging the bars. It really gave me my second wind and drove home the need to get as far away from the Big Box as possible. |

You improved your fitness, and helped him improve his patience.

Why did you even need the rack? Why not just take a bar and do it elsewhere? Was there only one?
To be fair, using the (single?) rack for 46 minutes in a shared gym isn't exactly friendly. |

That's a whole lot of thrusters! Luke, I agree that it isn't exactly "friendly" but sometimes Forging Elite Fitness causes us to be selfish in the gym.
I know at my campus gym there is no pull-up bar other than that which is on a cable station. I constantly compete against the "diesel" guys who want to do chest exercises while they check themselves out in the mirror. They always seem to be agitated when I decide to do pull-ups there. Maybe that's because no one at my gym does full-range, real CF pull-ups. |

Yeah, I would've asked him what he needed it for. You could pretty easily move the bar nearly anywhere and still complete the workout. If he was doing squats, then he really NEEDED the rack.
On the other hand, if he was going to do curls, I would have fought him. :angel_no: (Message edited by surfreak on June 22, 2007) |

Luke,
there are more racks. Since I didn't have plates I wasn't "really" using the bar anyway. I understand the hogging the bar issue. I was using the rack so I didn't have to pick up the bar from the floor every 30 secs. I will endeavour to be more GloboGym Friendly. |

Maybe if you wouldn't cheat so bad on your shoulder press you could add some weight to the bar, finish your workout, and flex in the mirror.
