That should do it. It's silly to cancel the whole book just because a single chapter that sold for $10 didn't sell good. What did he expect? Personally, I bought it, and thought it was a good read, as I expect the rest of the book to be. But it definitely wasn't worth the money, so I had decided to wait for the completed book and buy that-what most sane and reasonable thought too I suppose... |

Not the book again! He's been threatening to write a book since the mid 90's. Write it. Don't write it. Just quit babbling about it. I love his site but enough already with this book business!

I didn't read the whole thing, just the beginning. I believe he is wrong when he says that the main cost of reading a book is the opportunity cost of the time spent reading it. At least, his implication is wrong in my opinion. The reason? The time one spends reading or the time one will spend reading is for many people, myself included, a "sunk" cost. Meaning that we already have a certain amount of time set aside in our lives for reading. When making investment or economic decisions, we generally ignore sunk costs. Therefore, the relevant cost information is, in fact, the purchase price of the book.
And, no. I'm not usually this pedantic  |

Isn't he an economics professor? Isn't supply and demand relevant anymore? Clearly no one wants to buy his E-BOOK at $10 per chapter or $150 for the entire thing.
So, yeah, he could scrap the book and only allow the people who bought it to access his blog OR he could reduce the price drastically and undertake some kind of marketing initiative thus generating the amount of revenue he clearly wants by moving a high volume of e-goods. |
