Great info Eugene, I think we have all had the bruised arm/chafing issue. Like you, we bought a few sets of rings from Tyler. They are a great tool and contribution to the fitness industry – legit IMO.

Clients have actually refused to use the power rings, based off the buckle issue of the power ring training system!

We have used something similar to what you posted above, minus the sewing – just using knots. All ring training system have been converted (though we don’t use them because we are going over to composite materials – shying from heavy metal). Still a solid solution for your hoops.

Here it is.

Tyler, thanks, I'll check. I might not have saved the instructions...I would not doubt I have them set up incorrectly. :-)

It was great meeting you as well. It's exciting to see how well BrandX is doing.

Tactical Tailor rules - it's pricey but ya get what ya pay for.
I heard the sale was because they're paring down the Woodland stuff due to ACU being the Army's current spec.

DANG - sweet deal on pre-ordering the Elite Rings!! My credit card is still smoking from christmas gifts, but I think I can squeeze one more on ........ :D :D :D

That's correct. The Universal Camo Pattern (UCP) is 'the new woodycam'. ACU is the Army Combat Uniform...semantics, I know, but I deal with this stuff every day.

Camelbak has phased out all their OD for UCP and Foliage Green, but is keeping Woodycam for a spell. Some other makers will likely go a similar route, esp. those whose main customers are .mil folks.

Here's the ring buckle bruise solution. The 1" nylon was just a few bucks and the sewing was only $16 and change. I like to keep the extra webbing neat so I roll it up and then use double sided Velcro straps to secure it. Then I pull the strap to the top of the anchor point out of the way.

If you have not seen them, the blue finger straps are for finger pullups using 1, 2, 3 or 4 fingers. Got them from Ironmind. You can secure them to a kettlebell for suitcase carries too.

Tyler - you mention to follow the web direction on the buckle when threading it through. That tends to be a frustrating 10 minute finger cramping workout each time I set them up. I have the lever depressed all the way, but the webbing still gets jammed up.

Is there an easier way to get them through? I was thinking about having the end sewn flat to make it easier. I'd try and melt the fibers, but they tend to glob.

Usually I give up in frustration, feed them through the wrong way and just tie the long end to the support.

David,

I've found that there's a sweet spot, approximately 3/4 depressed, for the lever that makes pushing the webbing through a lot easier.

Have you tried fiddling with different amounts of closed-ness (not really a word, I'm pretty sure)?

I've been able to get even frayed webbing through with no problem by observing the 3/4 rule.

Mike

I ordered a pair of the new rings for my adapted PE class. Is there going to be an issue with the buckles huring my students?

Tyler mentioned in another recent post on this subject that if the rings are gripped so that the buckles are facing away from you, the buckles can't make contact with your arms.
