I just got this book since Crossfit Boulder Creek has so much outside space. It is GREAT. Basically plans for stuff of all types like pull up bars, balance beams, all the way to climbing walls, chain ladder climbs, tree platforms, etc.

My fantasy from last year of a crossfit course through the tops of my redwood trees is starting to materialize! (I wonder if I could stick my C2 on a platform 40 feet up in the trees, accessible by rope climb for one of my homemade wods?)

The author is Lloyd Marston and the title is exactly what I wrote in the subject heading if you are interesting in getting a copy. I think it was $15

Sounds really cool. In Denver I used to take my clients through workouts at the park occasionally for fun. Usually it involved throwing kettlebells or medicine balls, and lots of trips across the monkey bars.

So ok, CrossFit redwood trees - kind of a Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon thing? Actually I'm picturing more like a ropes course... but with Oly platforms.

What was the biggest thing you learned from that book?

I think the book really opened up possibilities for me. Ideas for building courses and such that could be used in varieties of ways. Sure, pullup bars, balance beams, etc were in there, but so were things that we don't use but could have a lot of fun with.

I have been envisioning sort of cargo nets, rope climbs, bachar ladders from trees and platforms to each other. Could also use rope swings and such too. Ladders up into trees as well can be tricky when they are rope and not attached at the bottom. Of course it rains here a bunch in winter so everything needs to be weather proof and/or unhook for coming inside in the winter.

And my son loved the idea that we could make climbing things that look like dinosaurs. But that one isn't too interesting to me so he will have to wait. But that was probably the "biggest" thing!

Beth--

Thanks for the book...I have space to build, and am looking for some instruction. Perfect.
