Re: Poorman's Rings
This works great. I used 26" x 1" PVC and wrapped it around a paint can. Looking back, I would have preferred to use 22" x 1", but it still works great.
Heated the oven to 350 degrees, left the PVC, filled with sand in for about 13 min. Removed it and held it around the paint can for ~5 minutes. If anyone needs lashing straps, Amazon has some. |

Re: Poorman's Rings
I'd like to know what are the advantages of rings over U shaped PVC handles that I am currently using. Thanks!

Re: Poorman's Rings
I made a set in the oven last week. Cost me about $30 total. I used 2" cargo straps with the 'slip' cams. They're 1" pvc with 5/8" rope through the rings. Tied a loop on the top and slip the straps through. Too good to be true. The most expensive part was the straps. Thanks for this thread!

Re: Poorman's Rings
I used the elbows of PVC pipe used for burying electric wires. Just some rope threaded through them and they work great! Thank you! And the kids really love to play on them, too.
(I couldn't find them in plumbing, I had to go to Ace Hardware and look in electrical.) Vanessa |

Re: Poorman's Rings
All this talk about rings has got me thinking...
![]() In my gym (not a CF gym, a meathead gym) we have a couple really nice power racks that have a center bar on them. Has anyone tried to hang these rings from a setup like this? WS link Power Rack (The one I am using has a third in bar in the middle of the two on top of the rack, this is where I want to hang my rings from) |

Re: Poorman's Rings
I've submitted an article to Crossfit Journal on how to make homemade rings. If it does not get release soon I'll let the message board know. Meanwhile bug the journal on releasing it.

Re: Poorman's Rings
Here's a picture of some homemade rings. If you can bake you can make this.

Re: Poorman's Rings
I made these over the last two days. Still need to wrap the handles with some sort of tape. At least they are working for ring pushups already.
Next week i will try to do some muscle ups for the first time. You all were really inspiring! ![]() |
