I got mine in 8:15.
Not bad I thought for a guy that is 6-2 265. :-) Granted I was spent, but I did it. I was sweating bullets..... |

Bwt 160, age 22. Kept the 1min/round pace for the first two, then was quickly eaten up by this workout. Good challenge. Excellent time Rutman! |

Hey all.
Been lurking for a few months here...first posting. Managed 5:25 at a Bwt of 150, age 21...almost killed me though. My arms felt like lead after! Great times everyone! You are all truly inspirational! |

Hi Everybody,
This is a challenge, and is actually my first attempt at any WOD, with the exception of my unexpected intro to Helen the one day I was at the Feb CF course. I did it in 4:15. I was smoking, and it did get me, but I'm recovering pretty well. The rythym flowed pretty well. I had to break up the last 2 sets of power cleans, put down every few reps. Age: 35 BW: 170 This is at the end of my GS training--jerks and snatch training. I had about a 30 min break before going through this one. Good stuff--and addictive. I will mix in a periodic WOD around my GS training and BJJ training. I've been in and around the arts for most of my life, and you're right. The large majority of guys are not in shape. Conditioning does not a fighter make, but it sure is a tremendous equalizer. Fun Stuff! Steve |

By the end of the summer training, I will have 5:00 down. My first 2 1/2 sets were in 2:30 and then my pace dramatically dropped off because I couldn't catch my wind.
No excuses, but I know my benchmark to shoot for. I'm a big guy so I figured if I can get that time to around 5 mins that is a great time for me. That combined with the offseason sprint/run training and my strength workout....oh yea....heads are gonna roll in the fall. :-) |

Jay -
Yeah Baby. That's my goal too. Break the magic 5 minute barrier by end of summer. I'm a big guy too: 36 yrs old, 5'11, 280 lbs. I'm in the 7 minute range right now. Like you, I'm on pace thru about the 3rd cycle, but then its like I cant get any breath because I'm choking on all the lactic acid. I think its a wonderful little challenge for the summer. J.Kessler - Yeah, the MMA boys are in darn good shape... you gotta give it to 'em. They are serious athletes, but they are not necessarily training in the most effective way, which I think they are starting to understand. Fun to see that guys at the MMA gym that I never talked to about this challenge are starting to ask me for specifics so they can go and benchmark themselves. In my opinion, at this point in time, CrossFit is to fitness - what BJJ/MMA was to Martial Arts back in 1990. ....about to enlighten a whole community. |

Guys -
If a guy like Steve Cotter comes in at 4:15 then I think we're getting close to the "theoretical minimum" that a human can accomplish on this event. Looks to me like: 6:00 to 8:00 minutes is an average range for regular, well conditioned, CrossFitters. 5:00 to 6:00 is where your typical Pro MMA fighter resides. under 5:00 minutes is elite status in anybody's circle 4:00 is the theoretical human minimum. I say that in the same sense that the 4:00 minute mile was the theoretical minimum that was concluded to be impossible to break until Roger Bannister came along. Very very interesting. And fun to watch. My goal: get under 5:00 minutes! |

One of these days I'll learn that just because I see Olympic lifts in a workout - it doesn't mean it'll be easy. These were the UGLIEST cleans I've ever done!
BW - 113lbs, powercleans at 76lbs (mixed kilos & pounds) time: 7:34 |
