Hi,

Was wondering if there is a training software that works really well with CrossFit?

I've used CrossTrainer in the past, but now switched to Fitness Assistant.

Both have their shortcomings, and wondered if you guys have a more favoured software for training logs.

Thanks.

Paper is pretty cool. Seriously, nothing screams business like a ratty composition book with funky sweat stains that has plenty of room for doodling, modifying, and can be leafed through when you run out of ideas. Keep a chart in the front of maxs on lifts with given reps (singles, triples, etc.) and the date, maybe with benchmark workouts and gymnastic-type challenges. I played with the software, and it all pales in comparison to that cheap little book.

I copy and paste the wod (sans picture) to a Word doc. Add score when complete. One rest day and three workouts per page. Benchmark workouts (The Girls) in blue, PR scores in red. The document is printable and searchable. You could enter anything in. Works like a charm.

Graham Hayes' WoD randomiser creates that nice pick of the day feel for those who have to modify the WoDs. I created a list of workouts without weights which I've been doing for a while and simply entered the names into the randomiser and refer to my list when the name pops up.

Check out www.entryworks.com's free online training log,( JOT) and nutritional database -- this journal uses flash and has lots of great features for many types of workouts, whether crossfit, cycling, triathletes, etc.

The guy who wrote the program is a competitive cyclist who welcomes any and all suggestions to improve the training log, and he's especially interested in making it crossfit-friendly. Check it out and let him know what you think.

Graham...

Thanks for the WOD list but I wasn't able to access/run the randomiser. What do I need to do?

Download, unzip and run the .bat file. A little MS-DOS window should pop up.

When Graham H made it this window would display a WoD every time but I somehow buggered it. If it pops up and doesn't display a WoD, close it and run the .bat again until it does. You'll have to ask Hayes how to fix it.
