I'm wanting to get from 12% to about 8% body fat and really want to try fasting. How often is it necessary to fast to see results. Do you have to do it every day or is once every 3 or 4 days enough? thanks

Never? It seems you would lose muscle mass if you fast as opposed to fat. Just my Wild A** Scientific Guess, and .02 cents. I wouldn't advise it. Not sure what The Zone says about these things, though.

Fasting on this board means to skip a meal or two. It's not what most people would refer to as fasting which generally means going several days without food.

Results positive inpact on hdl/ldl/tryglycerides better mood/concentration = blood sugar Was able to put on muscle mass hunger was reduced substantially |

I realize fasting here on this boards means skipping a couple meals and that's what i was referring to. Say for instance i do 4 days 1 off training. So i was think i would do a 18 to 20 hr. fast on my rest day. Would that be beneficial?

Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Use the search engine, people with far more expertise than me have answered this question in great detail.

Try a random day or two and adjust as necessary from there. I started doing 2 days of IF and now I'm doing it EOD. Been doing this for the last several months with good results across the board.

Do you sleep every night? I would say the daily 8-10 hour fast would be enough.

intermittent fasting appears to work well even in small doses, i.e. less than every day, although of course not as well as if it's done more consistently long term. if you're talking about the compressed window version (limiting eating to 5-6 hrs/day), even 1 day/week should have benefits, although not dramatic enough to compensate for any flaws in your nutrition.
bottom line is that there should be a progression for nutrition like training and there are steps that must be taken before others. something along the lines of: quantity > quality > details like IF. in other words, don't bother trying to get too jiggy unless you have all your other bases covered and covered well. tons of IF info on the IF forum (WFS): http://www.performancemenu.com/forum...isplay.php?f=4 |
