I have new house and just bought 450lbs of iron grip oly free wts for .25 a pound seemed like a good deal, i have to get a power rack and a bar,my intention is to buy some 4x6 3/4 horse stall matts from my local tractor supply, for protection for my garage floor, i was thinking of putting and additional 3/4 piece directly under where the wts would hit for protection. I know these arent bumper plates and my main concern is letting the wt down abruptly for dead lifts, up to 400lbs, what do you think is this adequate protection i dont want to do structural damage to my house? any input welcome
Jerry

Hi Jerry,

since you have no bumper plates, take a look at some of the more solid constructions:

- http://www.geocities.com/washingtonw...nforaQuiet.htm looks very cool, but a lot of work

- http://www.ironmind.com/ironcms/expo...weathome6.html is the standard design with plywood sheets

Cheers,

Christian
