Hello,
I am going to be having some hard days ahead and I am going to be working out ALOT during these days. I need ideas for a post workout energy/muscle shake thingy that I can take when I am done working out that will: Help me recover, give me energy, and give me a little extra for building muscles. Extra points for creatine, amino acids or any other big words that sound cool. Any ideas? Thanks! |

There have been quite a few threads on this very subject lately. Definitely hit up the search function and see if that might answer your questions.

I will probably get flamed, but when I am looking for a post workout "shake" and I am looking for calories and protien, I use a quart of 2% chocolate milk.
You get a huge protien carb bang for the buck. As long as you don't have a lactose or anti dairy thing going. |

NO time to cook and use Zone/Paleo/fresh food? With apologies to Garrett, Endurox R4 30-60 minutes post workout. Best is still to time your work-out so that your next meal is within that window.

The worst thing about my diet is the occasional post workout shake. I use muscle milk, the bannana cream flavor, a half serving mixed with one cup of milk provides 37g protein, 23g carbs, and 9g fat. That is using skim plus milk though.
It tastes good and contains a little creatine in it (they don't list amt though). It's probably mostly sugar, but hey it's tastey and it's better than a coke. If you can drink water only for awhile, let yourself stay in a stressed state after a workout a little bit. While I have not seen research I have heard that it increases the hormonal benefit. |
