Jeff and Keri Crossfit Log

Monday 8/25/08
Jeff
Murph, as scaled from BrandX
1/2 Mile Run
50 Pull Ups
100 Push Ups
150 Squats
1/2 Mile Run
29:02

First time ever running a half mile without stopping. Had to walk some the second half mile.

Tuesday 8/26/08
Front Squat 10-10-10-10-10 reps

Jeff
45, 65, 85, 105, 115
Difficulty with front squat, first time ever doing it. Could have easily done more weight if wrists were not hurting from bending so far backward.

Keri
Performed with no weight to get proper squat technique developed.

Rest days for both of us. Our bodies were shot and knew that we were pushing too hard.

Four rounds for time:
Run 400 meters
Rest 2 minutes

Jeff - 14:51
Keri - 17:30

Our runs can certainly be faster. Neither of us are runners, but this was the first time that we were both able to run the entire 400m without stopping on each round.

Re: Jeff and Keri Crossfit Log

Very nice start, you guys! You've gotten past the hardest part, which is getting started... You're also doing it the right way, scaling and listening when your bodies tell you it's time to rest. Keep up the good work!

Re: Jeff and Keri Crossfit Log

Thank you Steve. It's been difficult, far different than any type of work out that I've done in the past. But overall it has been fun, because we are both doing the same thing together.

Jeff
Supposed to be rest day. I went to the gym under the guise of getting some stretching done because my lower back is still hurting a bit. I saw some equipment and decided to do some chest exercises. To my complete surprise, I set a new PR for dumbbell bench press at 100# three times without my form suffering (at least it didn't feel like it suffered).

I often wondered why there are not more chest exercises included in the Crossfit WOD's, but I guess it really doesn't matter. My chest is getting stronger anyway!

I was rather disapointed, as I thought that my legs were much stronger than this. I have a lot more work to do.

Keri

Keri did a great job. Her form was perfect and she performed a full squat. I was really proud of her.

I did think it was funny, and pointed it out to Keri while we were there. There were two guys next to us doing squats as well. Their legs only went to maybe a 45 degree angle, not even close to a full squat. They had over 300 pounds on the bar. We both smiled and went back to our lower weight, full squats.
