Re: What do you use to log workouts?

I've been using a calender for over two years. And I use a notebook for all my big PRs on slow lifts, O-lifts and benchmark WODs.

Re: What do you use to log workouts?

Google Calendar as the master list of workouts.
BTWB for the WODs and maxes
Other sites for running and cycling (Runkeeper and Garmin Connect)

BWTB is really good, but not great. It will track your maxes for a workout, but I really wish it would list 1RM, 3RM, and 5RM for each since they aren't always "in sync". And since you really can't enter your entire workout (warm-ups, practice rounds, finishers), you can't get a sense of whether your performance might have suffered because the warm-up was closer to a WOD or not.

Also BTWB is not iPhone friendly and so, when you are at the gym, it is a pain to see what you were actually doing previously.

I tried Dailyburn and that just didn't work for me at all. Been contemplating some sort of database/spreadsheet tie-in, but it seems like too much work to be worth it.

Beyond the Whiteboard for me. Easy to use, and tons of features.

BTWB

I can't wait until an iPhone app gets built for site integration. According to a post I saw in FB, that seem to be in the works.

Really, all kidding aside, I agree with you Brian. I would prefer people I don't know personally not reply to my log, and if those same people never read it, good. I think one person has posted a reply to my log, and it's someone I know from our affiliate. I don't need, or want, an Internet cheering section either.

www.logwod.com (wfs) is free. Nothing fancy ... it's ugly but it works (I'm biased though; I wrote it).

Maybe I'll leave a few comments on your log then.

I actually feel the opposite way. I blog my stuff on blogger (link in sig) and I know a few people read it and I read lots of other people's blogs too. I like to see what other people are doing and to show other people what I'm doing so that we all can learn more about training and what makes programming good or bad. I bounce a lot of training ideas around with other people. I've been logging my workouts for years but only started making it public in the last few months so I'm still accountable to myself either way.

As far as remembering workouts from the time at the gym to the time at the laptop, it's not that hard for me to remember loads for strength workouts. Times for WODs get stored in my watch anyway so I don't see the big deal.

Yep. Staples had them for .25 each, so I bought a bunch. I use 'em for work as well. I did use a Moleskine for a while, but found the lines too narrow.

I did try Excel, but prefer the act of writing on paper, as well as being able to take notes during the workout.

Just got a blackberry to replace my stolen iPhone (ouch), do you use a timer on your blackberry? and have you figured out how to make the screen not turn off? I dont see a "never" option that my iPhone had...

+1

I was in the middle of writing my own when I ran into logwod.com and stopped my own development.

logwod is great! easy to use and easy to us on mobile devices due to it's "ugly" simple interface.
