Re: What do you use to log workouts?
I use Excel too. Once Beyond the Whiteboard started charging money, I pushed everything over to a spreadsheet. A tad harder to keep track of PR's, but if you keep a PR sheet in the spreadsheet somewhere and update it regularly... no issues.

Re: What do you use to log workouts?
We started using Beyond the Whiteboard recently. I like being able to compare my clients times against many others and the charts are nice...I wrote my times in a notebook for years and also keep results posted on the message board workout log but BTWB gives me much better ability to access old times and compare results. As far as BTWB charging for the service, I think the product does cost them money and time to develop and I hope they will continue to make improvements. IMO, the small fee is worth it.

Re: What do you use to log workouts?
We keep notebooks in a chest for people to record the wod and their times. This allows them to flip back through it and compare before and after the wod.

Re: What do you use to log workouts?
Notes on my BlackBerry.
I used Excel for a year before being frustrated about not having (searchable) access to my benchmarks every time my affiliate trainer would ask me what my previous Helen time was. My format goes: [WOD] [date] [time] [scaling/substitutions, if any]; [date] [time] [scaling/substitutions, if any]; [WOD] [date] [time] [scaling/substitutions, if any]; [date] [time] [scaling/substitutions, if any]; etc. It's not a pretty system, but it's very functional and portable. |

Re: What do you use to log workouts?
I have one of those cheap composition books with the stitched binding that has graph paper. I divide the pages into columns and do front and back. So when I open up one page I have almost a month worth of workouts going across to view at one time. I don't do the internet training logs because I don't carry my laptop to the gym with me and I don't need a bunch of people reading my log giving me positive reinforcement. I have enough internal motivation.
