How heavy is my tire?
I got a tire off craigslist. I've been searching and googling for 3 hours and the best I can come up with is 500-900lbs but I'd like to know what it weighed new...
It measures 61" (62-63" new?) in diameter and 23"wide. The rim size appears to be 28-29", with a 24.5" hole. The only markings on it are "nylon","20 ply rating", and "UNIROYAL". I didn't have any experience flipping these things but I have a 395 DL, and using good technique shown on videos, this thing is a beast to flip. Twice is all I can manage an I'm wiped out-I don't think my strongest clients could do it, YET. |

Re: How heavy is my tire?
600 give or take.
I had one that size that I gave to a local affiliate. It was that size and the markings on it took me to a site that had it weigh in at that weight. With a 395 dead and then starting the lift about 6" lower, that would work. |

The only markings on it are the ones I mentioned.

Re: How heavy is my tire?
HOW TO READ YOUR TIRE SIZE… If your tire size has two sets of numbers (6-12, 5.00-15, 11.2-24…) the first number (5.00-15) is the approximate width in inches; the second number (5.00-15) is the rim diameter. If your tire size has three sets of numbers (15/6.00-6, 26/12.00-12, 31/15.50-15) the first number (26/12.00-12) is the approximate height, the second number (26/12.00-12) is the width, and the third number (26/12.00-12) is the rim size.

Re: How heavy is my tire?
Yeah I wish I had those numbers! I don't really have a way of determining precise rim size because I'm not a tire guy and I don't know how much of a lip these big rims would have; or precise original height because the tire is worn to some degree. It was in a backyard for 15 years so there are no markings except what I mentioned...
I guess I'll never know until I weigh it! |
