Home Made Gear
I have been really intrigued by some of the gear and equipment that some people have made for their gyms. I thought it might be interesting to have a forum topic that dealt with creating your own gear. It would be an area where Crossfitters could discuss materials, design specs, assembly and cost/savings.
Just some pics that have caught my attention: How to make PVC rings: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-PVC-gymnastic-fitness-rings/YOU MUST ANNOTATE ALL LINKS WHETHER WORK AND FAMILY SAFE. Some more out of conduit: http://www.instructables.com/id/How_...from_PVC_Cond//YOU MUST ANNOTATE ALL LINKS WHETHER WORK AND FAMILY SAFE. Some wooden ones (Though I've seen some that were much better): http://www.instructables.com/id/Auth...c-Still-Rings//YOU MUST ANNOTATE ALL LINKS WHETHER WORK AND FAMILY SAFE. A Better Pair (CF forum thread): http://board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=13564/YOU MUST ANNOTATE ALL LINKS WHETHER WORK AND FAMILY SAFE. Of course there is the plyo boxes pdf. http://library.crossfit.com/free/pdf...plyo_boxes.pdf/YOU MUST ANNOTATE ALL LINKS WHETHER WORK AND FAMILY SAFE. I guess what I'm saying is that there is stuff scattered all over the CF forum and across the internet. It would be nice to have one spot to put therm. Marcus |

Re: Home Made Gear
The bag came out to 11 lbs.
Way too light for me but great for a beginner to use. I need to start experimenting with different sands and fillers to find the right combination for the different weights. The bag has held up well and since its rubber I have used it for slamming into the ground as well. The one problem with it is that the rubber smells bad (like bad eggs) and takes time and or use to air out. Some people on the internet have suggested encasing it in denim (like a leg from a pair of jeans) before taping the handles. This will keep it from smelling and wearing out too quickly. Oh and GO PATS! |

Incidentally, I find Ross's website to be one of the coolest I've seen in a while. This guy has it going on.

It looks very sturdy but I may make the foot rig so that it supports the legs at the ankles. I wouldn't want my feet to slip. ![]() |

Re: Home Made Gear
New post in the forum on homemade gear. I haven't seen it myself yet because they block that site where I work. I'll check it out tonight.
