Wrist pain

I have been experiencing wrist pain for a little over a week, I know the usual perscription is rest, ice, etc. However, the strange thing is that the pain will be completely gone for extended periods (2-4 hours), then come back for no obvious reason. The pain can be pretty sharp and intense to just a general soreness and then completely gone. Has anyone ever had something like that? I am a little concerned because I know how to deal with injuries, just never had one that seemed to come and go to such extremes.
Thanks

Re: Wrist pain

Hey Rob,
What kind of work are you doing and is there anything that particularly exacerbates it? Also are there any other symptoms with the pain such as numbness, pins and needles, burning et al ?

Re: Wrist pain

It started pretty much out of no where. I follow the WOD, do the CFWU - that is why this is so odd to me. Nothing particular seems to cause an onset of pain, or vice versa. No other symptons other than varying degrees of pain.
It did not seem to be any better or worse after front squats earlier in the week, it was kind of stupide to do that WOD with a bum wrist - since then I have not trained - trying to rest it.
Thanks

Re: Wrist pain

I'm certainly not pretending to be an expert on diagnosing wrist pain but:

If there's no numbing/burning etc then it's not carpal tunnel syndrome (which is good!). Is it swelling up at all? if so it may be some kind of tendonitis. Have you ever broken it? if so, do you know for a fact if it healed properly? Have you possibly sprained a ligament?

Your symptoms sound pretty strange in that there's no readily available reason for them! It's kind of tricky to pin it down to anything. You may just have to bite the bullet and see a doctor

If it's any consolation I've definitely noticed my wrists complaining more since starting CF (HSPU's anyone?) so I feel your pain....ish
