I had to share. I just had to. Close-minded people bug the h**l out of me.

So, I am at trampolining practice. Yes, I'm a competitive trampolinist.

Anywho, one of my coaches starts looking at the following video I threw up on YouTube, just for fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ou34c0opwng (WFS)
He comments that the move is interesting, etc. He knows that I workout hard, but I gave up trying to explain to him what CF is along time ago.

Then my other coach comes over. He's cocky and arrogant, so he looks at the video, and this is what followed.

Coach: Thrusters are for people with more mass.
Me: I'm sorry?
Coach: Thrusters. You're too light for them. They're more for people that are "football player big"
Me: That makes no sense. It's a weighted movement. You scale it to your needs, and just reduce the weight to what you can do.
Coach: Whatever. You need to put on some mass before you can do those. You'll hurt yourself.
Me: And how, may I ask, do I put on mass?
Coach: Weights. Which you can't do, because your just under 16. And it MUST be isolation stuff. You're not going to make any gains with whatever you do now.
Me: Let me guess, instead of squats, deadlifts (which I am 25# under 2xBW, and getting closer), presses, and OLY lifts, I should be doing curls, leg extensions, and calf raises, right?
Coach: Exactly. Glad you understand.

I was so ****ed off at him when he was telling me this. He thinks that because he's going into medicine, and I'm just a kid, he knows more than me. He also thinks he has a perfect attitude, but he's stubborn as hell.

Unfortunately, he's an excellent coach, and has taught me a lot in 3 years. And so, I went back to jumping, my training session and adrenaline fueled by the frustration of his closed-mindedness.

Just had to get that out of my head. I think it happened like 3-4 weeks ago.

Find a new coach. It's a coach's responsibility to know what's best for his athletes.

Not as easy as it sounds. Next-closest club is about a 35 min. Drive. I cant make my dad do that multiple times a week. :/

Does he have the ability to control your workouts? If not, let results speak for themselves. Then he can't say $hit.

Is he a strength coach, or a trampoline coach? That should be enough to tell you whether to listen to him or not.

Avoid further discussions with him on the subject. He obviously knows nada about strength building, and anything you try to say that contradicts him will be seen as a challenge to his authority. Let your results speak for themselves. At 15, you're probably beginning to realize that the world is full of uninformed, closed minded people. Get used to it; you'll have teachers, professors, coaches, doctors, employers, and peers that will give you bad advice in your lifetime.

This! The world is full of people who feel the need to give their thoughts on subjects that they have no knowledge in. Learn that lesson early and you'll live a much happier life.
