Re: Anthony and Jodi's Journal

Anthony (M/32/170)

AMRAP in 5 minutes of:
1 Clean (165 pounds)
1 Jerk (165 pounds)
Score: 22 rounds + 1 Clean (45 reps)

Mixed feelings about this. I was pacing for 25-27 rounds and was doing great for 4 minutes. Lungs felt good, strength felt good, every rep felt crisp. And out of nowhere both my quads/IT-bands cramped with major charlie horses. My legs buckled and I could barely stand up. Managed to get a few more reps, but could not hold my pace. So - disappointed that I was caught off guard. But happy that everything felt good up until that point. It took approx 15 minutes for my legs to stop locking up (bottle of coke helped) and then I went for a few short runs (prob 2k total) to see if I could get some blood flowing and loosen things up. Feeling much better now.

Lesson learned: last year during prep for Nationals I was still doing some minor conditioning work. Usually 60-90 seconds with one movement, amrap style stuff. Not much, but it made transition into conditioning work much easier when Nationals were over. This year I did nothing and it's making it much harder to get back on track. Well, almost nothing. I still did ring dips as accessory work and was able to hit a deadlift/ring dip workout at full speed, demolished it, and had no soreness the next day. So even if I'm not "sprinting" amrap, simply keeping certain movements in my training should help transition next year.

Jodi (F/32/111+giant cake & ginormous cookie)

Warmup x 1

HSPUx3x6 (sets)
Wall ball x 5 in between each set

A few sets of chest to bar chinups x 5.

Pose running drills.
Approx 1km run. Felt awesome.

Overall felt really great today despite being up all night from eating too much cake and cookies. Felt some tightness and knots in around my shoulders during HSPUs and wall ball (leftover from last weekend + last week). And the tops of my hands and feet still hurt, but still overall feel pretty awesome. Beautiful day outside.

Jodi (F/32/111+giant cake & ginormous cookie)

Yoga with Jane at noon!

Warmup

Squats
90x3
110x3
130x3
145x3
155x3
165x3

Pose Running Drills

5 Rounds of:
30 Double Unders
3 Turkish Getups, 1.5 Pood
10 Lunges

Time: 10:15
Took a nice steady approach - everything felt good, really good actually. Thought it would bother my forearms and hands but this positioning felt strong and was non issue.

Had time so went for an ~1km run. I was a bit slower than yesterday, it took me a bit longer to find my groove. Found it on about the last 300m and then it felt really good.

Re: Anthony and Jodi's Journal

Anthony (M/32/170)

Squat
205x3
245x3
285x3
325x3
350x3
375x3

5 rounds of:
30 Double Unders
3 Turkish Getups (2 pood)
10 Lunges
Not timed.

1km run with Jodi to practise form.

Practised tuck planche.

Squats felt easy - surprising considering the issues yesterday. Minor bruising on both quads, minor discomfort from the charlie horse, but no pain or reduce mobility. Conditioning workout felt good. Start back with Nadine tomorrow to get the IT-bands sorted ... she's warning me it's going to be aggressive.

Jodi (F/32/111ish)

Yoga with Jane

Warmup

Bench Press
70x3
85x3
95x3
105x3
115x3
123x3

12-9-6 of:
Deadlifts, 185 pounds
HSPU

Time: 7:40

POSE running drills

2.5km run - 16:15 - slowest run ever - LOL! But really tried to focus on POSE form. Felt off today - could feel a slight limp that I couldn't seem to correct and felt like I had too much shoulder movement. Conditioning wasn't a factor although throat felt really dry from the air.

Anthony (M/32/170)

1hr deep fascia work with Nadine ... worst one yet.

Bench Press
145x3
175x3
205x3
235x3
250x3
265x3

"Roaming Diane"
21 Deadlifts (225 pounds)
21 meters of Handstand Walking
15 Deadlifts (225 pounds)
15 meters of Handstand Walking
9 Deadlifts (225 pounds)
9 meters of Handstand Walking

2km run

Started back with Nadine. Brutal. Bench press was easy. Roaming Diane has been on my todo list for a long time, so I'm happy to finally check it off. Didn't time it, took a very casual approach, but I estimate 8-ish minutes. Handstand walking needs work. Finished off with a casual 2km run. Iced and then spent some time in the hot tub. Feel good.

Jodi (F/32/112.5) - Officially up 10 pounds since Nationals

Warmup

OHS
45x5
55x5
65x5
75x5
85x5
90x5

Practiced Burpees with jump over bar + OHS. If I stay calm and my forearms hold up, I *might* be able to get through the OHS and squeak out a muslceup before my time is up on Saturday. The key will be to keep calm during everything but especially the burpees! Everything felt pretty good tonight.

POSE running drills

400m run 1:56
Rest 2 mins
400m run 1:52

Really focused on POSE technique - actually felt pretty good. I was kinda surprised at how slow my times were - I felt like a rocket out there today! LOL! Obviously I have more work to do. HA! Tried a couple more OHS about 1 minute after the first run - it felt like I was holding 8000 pounds. D'oh!

Today's WOD looked like a fun one but I decided to save my forearms/shoulders/elbows for Saturday.
