Question Eating Before and During a Competition

Hi Guys,

I wasn't sure whether to place this here or Competition so my apologies. I have my first CF competition coming up in early October. My question is what should I eat the night before, and the day of the competition? It is 3 WODs with about an hour and half break in between.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Eva

Try to eat a good meal the night before, something with quite a big of carbs and fats. During, try to drink a protein shake or anything that will digest quick. I normally take coconut water, and some fruit.

Re: Eating Before and During a Competition

I once brought an entire cooler to a competition, with two types of smoothies, nuts and dried fruits, home-made energy bites made from coconut oil and dates, lunch stuff I prepared the day before, fruits, etc. That was total overkill, but having water, protein smoothies, and snacks is definitely a good idea. You will get hungry between events, but you won't have time to digest a heavy meal.

Re: Eating Before and During a Competition

quite basic--- this is what I have done for different types of competitions..

Eat a really good breakfast

Eat good food the days before - quality protein and carbs... eat more slow carbs than usual in your meals the 48hrs prior to carb load. Good amounts of water to flush the system of all the crap.

Comp day - bring whatever you like that is simple and easy to eat but will not take to long to digest in between each WOD. Fruits, smoothies, a sandwich, energy bars.

Energy drinks are good too.

I always bring coconut waters, protein bars and trail mix to snack on here and there. I also always bring chicken and sweet potatoes and force myself to eat a small portion of them between events, 4-5oz of each. I'm usually not really hungry but feel I need to get some solid food in and those have always done me well.

Thanks Guys,

Much appreciated. This gives me a good idea when I go grocery shopping next week.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Eat the foods you normally consume. The night before I would go relatively heavy on whatever carbs you normally eat. The day of the competition consume some form of quickly absorbed protein and carb after each WOD. I would eat a normal breakfast and then I assume the competition starts fairly early?

Thanks Chris.

I know we have to be there at 7 AM but not sure when it starts. Probably around 8 AM or so? Then it lasts until around 6 PM.

A coach told me there are 3 WODs and we get about a 90 minute break in between.

Will you be up in time to have a breakfast and then at least 3 hours prior to the WOD? If not, I would go with a shake which won't get you overly full.
