Re: chrissey's CFCC log

7/4 - oly

snatch: 24kgx2 (power-ish), then sets of three pulls and a hang snatch at 24-29-32-35-35-37-37-37-37. missed a few, but at this point i'd much rather miss a squat snatch than make them all as power snatches.

clean: 37x2 - 45x2 - 52x1 - 52x1 - 55x1 - 55x1 - 58 miss - 58x1 - 60x1 - 62 miss - 62 miss.

60 is a PR - couldn't seem to rack it the other day. couldn't get 62 racked today, but that's OK - guess one PR a day is all i can really ask for, huh.

Re: chrissey's CFCC log

7/5

went in to do some handstand walking but my left wrist/hand was really hurting me - so I stopped. I jammed it about a week and a half ago missing a clean and it's been a little testy ever since. Cathryn and I spent a few minutes working on band-assisted muscle up transitions instead.

then oly.

snatch:
24kgx2 (three pulls, 1 hang snatch, 1 snatch from floor)
29 pulls/hang, 29x1
32xmiss, 32x1
32x2 - these felt AWESOME and I actually managed full squat snatches.
35x2 - 6 sets - missed about 1/3 of the snatches, the rest I was at least getting under.

starting next week, will be working from blocks at least one day.

moved onto the clean and planned to jerk, but knew immediately when I racked my first clean at 37kg that it was NOT happening. Frustrating.

so - front squatted instead, and iced my hand in between.

45kgx3
55x3
64x3
70x2 (kind of shallow on the second)
74x2
78x2
82x1 - PR.

Took some solace in my 1kg front squat PR - I'm up to about 180lbs, from 170 in May, so that doesn't suck. But really - I've been spending roughly 9-11 hours a week working on things I'm not good at. It's taking a mental toll for sure. I need a couple of good solid workouts with movements I don't suck at (whatever those are).

Re: chrissey's CFCC log

7/6

some practice with the muscle-up kip. seriously i feel like there's a muscle up in me somewhere...i just have no idea how to get it out.

then cindy - 20 minute AMRAP 5 pull ups, 10 push ups, 15 air squats.

10 rounds + 13 squats - using paralettes for the push ups. which was substantially more difficult, but it allowed me to keep my testy left wrist straight - since it hurts to put pressure on it when it's bent.

i somehow have managed to be doing crossfit for just over a year without ever doing cindy before...so instant PR, i guess. i think i would have done a lot better without the paralettes, but who knows - guess we'll find out next time.

Re: chrissey's CFCC log

thank god, something i don't totally suck at.

7/7

spent a few minutes learning/practicing the butterfly kip. not awful - a little foreign - but adding this to my list of things to practice and get better at.

then 15 minutes of GHD medball throws. not quite as fluid and effortless as i expected, but fun. threw a 15lb small medball, 10lb wallball and a couple of the shot puts - 6lbs and maybe 10?

then

10 minutes - 3 squat snatches every minute on the minute. wrist a LITTLE testy for these but not too bad.

53 - 63 - 63 - 68 - 68 - 73 (missed 2d & 3d) - 73 (missed 3d) - 73 - 78 - 83. only 78 counted - i got all three reps at 83 but let go of the bar. helpful to think of moving my body around the bar, vs. moving the bar around my body (thanks jim).

then

team farmer's carry. this was fun - but our strategy didn't really pan out. everyone did one pass at 190lbs - then i completed three passes at 230, with two other passes that didn't count - i tried running with the handles and ended up kicking the plates, which caused me to drop. doing this again - i would have gone higher and not bothered with trying to run.

then

two rounds, 60 seconds at each station - american kettlebell swings (1.5 pood) - GHD situps - box jumps (24") - rest - double kettlebell push press (1 pood). this was weird because my heat rested in the middle of each round instead of at the end - but whatever. 60 reps 1st round, 45 reps second round. i lost a ton of reps in the kettlebell swings due to super-sweaty palms.

overall - today did not suck. thank god.

Re: chrissey's CFCC log

7/8 - rest-ish. croga, then 5 sets of butterfly pullups - tried to string 5, but only did that twice. i'm super-slow and deliberate with these now but with some practice can see how this is a much faster kip.

Re: chrissey's CFCC log

7/9

some skillwork with the pistol. i can do one pretty consistently on my dominant left leg BUT i go on my toes, so that's definitely wrong. still hit or miss on the right. did about 10 on each leg using a pole for assistance in the bounce out of the bottom.

front squat
95x3 - 125x2 - 155x1 - 175x1 - 185F. 175 felt very fast and easy, so i wanted to take a 10lb jump instead of 5 - 180 is my max. bounced 185 out of the bottom and got stuck. womp womp. next time.

then 30 pistols on each leg, with pole assistance for all but the first 3 on my dominant leg.

then 5 sets of butterfly kipping pull ups. strung about 3 or 4 for most, then 5 for the last one. i do fine until i start thinking about what i'm doing and then i can't manage to do it anymore. i did a sixth set while waiting for mike to get his stuff and managed to string about 7 or 8 until tim said something about not hitting my chin.

Re: chrissey's CFCC log

7/10 - oly

snatch
24x2
29x2
32x2 - missed both
32x2 - power snatch, then a little bit under
then 7 sets of doubles at 35kg - missed about 1/3 and power snatched the rest.

snatching off blocks when i go back thursday. was hoping not to have to continue to drill the cr-p out of 29 or 32kg forever, but it looks like i'm there for a little while longer.

then went to clean & jerk - and again with the pain in my left hand on my first clean (40kg). i'm going to ice it for a couple more days and then make an appointment to get it checked out - i don't think anything's broken but i want to make sure.

so - clean pulls instead.
45x3
55x3
60x2
65x3
70x3
75x3
80x3
80x3

felt pretty good. i sure can generate some power with my hips...now to work that into the lifts somehow. along with 50 million other things.

back at 6am tomorrow to deadlift and then flashmob WOD after work...should be fun.

Re: chrissey's CFCC log

7/11

sumo deadlifts
145x3
175x3
205x3
230x3
250x3
260x3

got a little off on my final rep at 260 and felt a weird tweak on the left side of my lower back. skipped the metcon and iced it for about 10 minutes at the gym, now at work and icing it again. i CANNOT have anymore stupid little injuries.
