OCB Capitol City Fitness Challenge

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to get this thread started so this event will be on your radars. Stay tuned for updates on the event and practice sessions.

No weight classes. The main split will be Novice and Open. We may do a masters category, which will be 40+. We are hoping to finalize the events by the end of January.

Also curious.. there any description of the events so far? I get the general idea, but yeah, a detailed description would be nice (although you're still finalizing them obviously so you might not be able to).

There will be six event total for each division. Here are some of the Events. Keep in mind they are subject to change.

Step Test
Division: Novice and Open
4 risers on each side plus bench. The challenge is how many reps you can get in a minute. You can either jump up and down or run up and down. 1 rep = both feet on top then both feet back on the ground.


Flex Arm Hang
Division: Open
Using an overhand grip you will have to hang from the pull-up bar with your chin over the bar. Time will stop once your chin goes falls below the bar.

Shuttle Run
Division: Novice and Open
You will have to move 14 balls from one side of the field to the other. 7 balls will be placed at a distance of 20 feet and 7 will be at a distance of 10 feet.

Obstacle Course
Division: Novice and Open
To be revealed on the day of the challenge. It won't involve climbing, but it may involve sprints, jumping over things, or a farmer's walk

Updated Information

We will have:
Womenísí Novice Division
Menís Novice Division
Womenís Open Division
Menís Open Division
Team Division - must be 4 members, must register together, can be co-ed or same sex.

Registration
Will open on April 1, 2008. Due to the interest in this event the registration will be capped at 50 people.

All Competitors Ė
Popups/Step/Run Test
4 Reebox risers + bench top for each participant.
It is a matter of how fast you can do 60 reps.
Either jump it or run up and down (facing step). (running = both feet = equal 1 rep, Not a left foot and a right foot equals 2 reps.)

Shuttle Run
14 balls total
7 balls at a distance of 20 feet, 7 balls at a distance of 10 feet (we will use duct tape to mark placements)
You choose which balls you want to get first/ what order. Balls must go into the finish line riser, if they pop out you must get them back in, in the next run down. (You canít save until end and then place into riser) If the last ball pops out of riser and you are running thru, 2 seconds added to finish time.

Tire drag around cones
Attach a tire to a belt on your waist and off you go.
Weights will be different for men and women. .

Mulch Lift and Carry
Pick up one bag of mulch from line 1 and move it across to line 2. You canít throw the mulch bags. Your feet must cross line 1, you must pick up a mulch bag, walk to line 2 with the mulch bag, your feet must cross line 2, and then you can drop the mulch bag. You canít drag the mulch bag.
Weights (mulch bags) will be different for men and women. .

Open Event Only
Flex Arm Hang
Over hand grip, chin over bar. You will need to pull yourself up and over the bar, chin over bar Ė once the chin is over the bar the clock begins. It is a matter of how long you can hold until your chin falls past the bar.

Novice Event Only
Pushups
Chest touches the bench (the top riser of a Reebox step which is sitting on the ground, just the riser). You must fully extend. You must touch the bench Ė the bench will move or your chest hitting the bench will make a sound Ė this is one rep. It is a matter of how many you do in a one minute period. On your toes. Any body part that touches the floor, the clock stops. So, you can wiggle, you can move, but once anything touches the floor you are done.
