Participants and members per sq. ft.

A question for those running affiliates:

How many members per sq. ft. can you fit during your group metcon workouts? How many members can you run in an affiliate per sq. ft.?

Thanks!

Re: Participants and members per sq. ft.

I have approx. 500 sq. ft. and I find it hard to do stuff with more than 6 people in there at a time.

Re: Participants and members per sq. ft.

I've got about 800, with maybe 400 actually usable. 6 is about the max. Although, I did have 14 one time at an open house workout. That was interesting; dodging pvc left and right.

Re: Participants and members per sq. ft.

Really depends on the layout of the space and equipment. Is it more square or rectangular. Are you using BB's, DB's, Bodyweight. Are you creating stations like a FGB or does each person get a spot and stay there.

There are a lot of different factors but I have heard of some 1,000 -1,500 sq ft places having 15-20 people in a WOD at once.

Re: Participants and members per sq. ft.

I currently have 1000 sq ft. of space with around 800 sq ft usable space. I average 8-15 / hour and teach 6 classes / day.

Re: Participants and members per sq. ft.

I have about 1100 sq ft of workout area, the most I've had in at one time was 12. I use mostly kbs so, while it was a little tight it wasn't bad. After that one I added a second class for that day (Sundays)

Re: Participants and members per sq. ft.

We're in 1100 sq/ft as well. We get good use of our 1 million+ square foot park out side of our back door. This park also provides our tanning amenities, via the sun, and we have a pool if you consider the river that. We ran 11 people through "elizabeth" 2 weeks ago inside, where we later decided it would have been better to do that in 2 separate groups during the hour. Our space, all in all, is working out quite well. It's tight at times, but the members seem to not notice amongst all of the controlled chaos. I'd like to see 3000 sq/ft, given our growth supports that, for our next location.

Re: Participants and members per sq. ft.

I am new so the most I have had at once was 10 people. I have about 2700 sq ft. of usable workout space. My space is long and narrow (23' x 110') so as I grow I will look at running two classes at once breaking up the front and back and enabling me to keep equipment costs down so I don't need as much of each.
