Raw Milk: Yay, or Nay?

So i have been paleo for a year and a half with great results. Leaner, faster, stronger(in conjunction with Crossfit of course). I feel really healthy. I eat whole milk cheese every couple of days(IE feta in my salad.Things like that), and i dont seem to be negatively affected by it. Im thinking of adding Raw Milk to the mix, any thoughts?????

6' Tall
191 lbs.
10%ish BF

Looking for more strength, possibly a tiny bit of size, and not get fat or sick.

Re: Raw Milk: Yay, or Nay?

I know there aren't many FDA fans on this forum, but this article (wfs) on the dangers of raw milk is pretty well put together.

My wife and I have children and are trying for another , so it's definitely a no-go for us.

Re: Raw Milk: Yay, or Nay?

Only one way to really find out right?

I've been doing raw milk for the last month with no adverse reaction- but I have never had issues with lactose intolerance before either.

Is it easy to get raw milk in NY? Here in Ohio it is illegal to sell raw milk- have to be part of a herd-share or own the herd to have access to the stuff.

Re: Raw Milk: Yay, or Nay?

Here's a site that promotes raw milk, and obviously provides opposing opinions to the FDA - http://www.realmilk.com/

Personally, raw milk kind of freaks me out, but I've had many relatives that were raised on it, and they all seem to be living to ripe old ages.

Re: Raw Milk: Yay, or Nay?

Definitely a YES for raw milk!

I was doing a couple glasses a day a while back, and I felt bullet-proof on it! Set two PRs on my squat (415 and 425) and PRd my deadlift (465) as well while I was on the milk. Also, I have not been sick once since I started on it (about 5 months ago - and I have two kids, one in pre-school so thats saying something!).

I have stopped now, as I am trying to lose some weight, but I loved it while we were doing it!

We had to be part of a cow share for it though, as its illegal to sell in Canada - you gotta buy the cow, 'cause you dont get the milk for free!

If you are not lactose intolerant (WFS) you should be fine - the stuff isnt going to kill you. If you get sick, stop drinking it...

A quote from the article:

"more than 800 people in the United States have gotten sick from drinking raw milk or eating cheese made from raw milk since 1998."

So, thats 800 out of 300,000,000 people, over 14 years.....I like those odds!

-not that I am biased or anything...

I like it, though it's expensive.
