Oatmeal add ins?

For those that eat oatmeal for a quick breakfast, what are some good flavorful items to mix in? And what are the measurements you use?

Peanut butter, almond butter, honey, and stevia. just look at the calories, carbs, sugar, and see which one you can handle in your diet.

Re: Oatmeal add ins?

1/2 cup oats
1/4 cup crushed walnuts (it really depends on what we have)
1/8 cup flax seed
1/4 cup shredded coconut
pinch of salt
cinnamon and all spice to taste

After it cooks I'll throw in some frozen blueberries, a sliced banana and a tablespoon of pure maple syrup.

Minced dates and figs are good too.

Re: Oatmeal add ins?

I haven't had oatmeal since starting crossfit but will probably add it back in the future. I like adding berries and honey, or peanut butter, almond butter, and honey. Adding actual crumbled nuts to either of those is a nice addition as well.

Re: Oatmeal add ins?

One of the best things I have found is get some different fruit jellies/jams (the kind that are 100% fruit) and throw a tablespoon or two in there. Sweetens it and gives it different flavor easily. It is cheap, easy, you are just adding fruit, and you can have a bunch of different flavors.

If I could I would add fresh blueberries, that is by far my favorite but it is wayyy too expensive this time of year.

Re: Oatmeal add ins?

Raisins are definitely the key tasty oatmeal add in. Then a little butter and some milk. Delicious.

Darryl didn't even provide a series of links to studies showing the benefits of adding raisins to oatmeal. I'm stunned.
