Is CrossFit more than a name?

Here is HQ's answer: http://www.crossfit.com/cf-info/what-crossfit.html

But here's my thing...

The methods they use have been around forever. Ex: circuit training

The exercises they use have been around forever. Ex: Clean and Jerk

I will admit, they do exercises that not in a normal routine. Ex: Toes To Bar

For example, the entire list of WODs on the mainsite is principles that have been around forever, with the exception of new exercises (muscle up).

What, if different, do they do that is so unique that it has exploded to what it has become today?

The packaging that they put it in (WOD), support, and community.

Re: Is CrossFit more than a name?

It is the light in the dark, the sun's rise to tear the night away and lead into the dawn. It is the paleo-approved stevia in your dark coffee, making life that bit sweeter.

It's also mildly retarded programming (depending where you look), scandal, grandiose claims and exagerations, and a whole lot of in-fighting across time.

Oh, and a sport to some people too.
