About 2 weeks ago I was playing rugby got tackled and my ankle was twisted during the tackle. The pain I felt at first was severe. I honestly thought I fractured a bone. Then after some sports tape and a few minutes I finished the match. Since then I have not been able to run on it. I finally go to the doctor this week. He x-rayed it and it appears nothing is broken, He put me in a walking boot for isolation and told me to come back in a week.

Does anyone know what they might be able to do for me?

I have been working and working out for the last two weeks with mininmal pain. Does anyone disagree that I should take this stupid walking boot off and get on with my life?

No, I don't If your doctor ordered it nobody in their right mind on this board would recommend you getting out of it sooner than your doctor prescpibes. He is the one that examined you and it would be foolish for us to try to over rule him without even examining you. I would rest it and do upperbody work for at least 1-2 weeks or until there is no pain.

Life is the next 60+ years of your life...don't let 2 weeks of impatience screw up the next 60years...be smart, rest, get better...plenty of time ahead in your life to workout.

Mark-

I too had a severe ankle sprain, and have been in a leather lace-up brace for a few weeks. I have also started some PT, with home exercises. I am taking it slow, but am slowing getting back into lower body exercices (squats, cleans), running, jumping, cutting, etc... It def takes time. I am at approx. 1 month now, and while I am back doing many of the things I did before, I am still not 100%. I would say 6-8 weeks for a person like me, prob more for someone who is out of shape, overweight, etc...

Good luck. Get to a PT if you can, if only for a few sessions.
