Westside Powerlifting Certs

I am not sure if you are aware, but I normally help Louie at the Westside certs (I help demonstrate movements and talk about performance nutrition).

I am curious how many of the members here are trainers and or affiliate owners and among you, how many have attended or plan to attend one of the certs.

I ask because I think Louie's certs don't get quite the attention/promotion that some of the other certs do, and I truly believe his cert to be one of the most valuable. What Louie teaches can be applied to any training discipline and that is what makes it unique. In other words, I think the term powerlifting certification is somewhat misleading in that what you learn are actually methodologies gleamed from the great Bulgarian and Russian weightlifting systems. They are universally applicable when it comes to improved strength and or performance. You will learn how to powerlift, but you will learn so much more...

Re: Westside Powerlifting Certs

I'm attending the PL cert. in Denmark on november 6-7. Headcoach is Sakari. Really looking forward to it. Currently have the level 1 cert. and teach at the Aarhus, Denmark affiliate. I think it is going to be a really valuable addition to my current knowledge.

Currently I'm trying the conjugate method out with great results in the past weeks. Loving that I'm getting to set new PR's weekly! What I'm mostly concerned about is me not knowing how to attack the assistance exersizes properly, which is fundamental from what I understand.

Re: Westside Powerlifting Certs

Chris,

I think it's not as popular because the cert is the only thing there is and it doesn't come around very often. Is there a site that posts a wod like cffb and cfe do? I think that would make a huge difference. Although it's not an offical cf site, olyathlete.com (wfs) is posting a "hybrid" wod that does a good job mixing Oly lifting and cf. Maybe something like this could be done? I would follow it for sure because it's all about getting stronger which is my main goal right now.

Personally I can see where it would be hard to take that cert on the road because of equipment that most cf gyms don't have. I am SURE there are people that would LOVE to attend. The only certs I'm really interested in are the Oly followed closely by the Westside one.

As a big believer in the conjugate method, I've added 10 kilos to my clean in the last month alone.

Chris,

I would love to go, but can't travel to Ohio to do so.

Could Louie schedule something on the West Coast at Super Training? I'd even host it if need be.

The biggest thing holding me back is the location as well. If there were a cert closer to home, I'd be there.

Re: Westside Powerlifting Certs

I'd love to do the cert and intend to when I can scratch the cash and time together.

I'm not so convinced on bands/chains, but the conjugate method is fascinating.

Re: Westside Powerlifting Certs

Chris, I would love to attend. I constantly check the certs page, but I see they are only held in Ohio or overseas. Have you guys thought about taking it on the road. I am sure most affiliates would love to host one of Louie's certs.
