Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Friday.. ok warm up.. worst workout in so long. Seemed that I forgot how to snatch. My left hook grip was not releasing.. failed on so many lifts.. was just pathetic.

Complex 45-135#- 1 ps, 1 ss, 1 sb

Got up to 155# that was enough.

Then dead lifted… 135-395# was super heavy also.

Shut it down partner.

Saturday was lifting with my friend at his gym Kyle. Always a good time.
Warm up hip circle, ohs etc.

6 rounds
:30 seconds hs holds nose to wall
1 min rest

Got better and opened up the shoulders.

Work up to a heavy 4 rep push jerk- 95,135,165,185,205,215 felt good.

EMOM 15
10 t2b
1 heavy squat clean- picked 75% or 205#
Was a mentally hard one. Broke up from the start. 6/4's for a while, then 6/2/1/1 for a while then finally 5/1/1/1/1/1 stuff like that. Was happy to finish this one.

Heavy sled pulls- 3x 60 meters. 250#

65 strict pull ups- 10,5,5,4,3,3,3, and mostly singles from that point- hard workout hands hurt after 150 t2b prior. 6 and some change. Had 27 done in the first min slow going after that.

Good day of working out.

Sunday AM- 4 rounds
15 AAB calories
15 dl with 165# un broken
15 ghd's
9 min and change. Used the first set as a warm up.

Sunday PM-
Warm up for squat-
+5 lbs for the week goal- All 5 reps
45,135,225,275,310#

Made it the back was straining but could hit more reps. Goal is to get to a solid 325x5. At this rate 3 more weeks.

Strong man training-
2 rounds
15 AAB calories
370# yolk 120'
6 80# d ball over the yolk
2015 Games sled on the concrete- 120# 60'
100# sand bag 200 meters…

105 degrees heat.. mostly outside. Fun stuff.

Bunch of stretching going on this day.

Today is active recovery. Have to work and then take my son for his drivers test.

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Monday.. have been taking my son to the trolley getting up at 5AM and not being able to sleep much because of the heat and stress with my daughter. So took the day off from working out. But was busy taking my son to the drivers test (he passed) and helping him guide thru Spanish final studies. My GF Reese is fluent in Spanish.. what a God send.

My son just turned 17 and might stay with us for the summer. Its going to be a busy one. We are going to have a little one joining us in Aug.. Reese's daughter is having a baby. I will be officially old having a grand child. Looking forward to getting a sweet racing stroller and going for runs with her.

Going in tonight for a long session.

Vic, you received any call up papers to the games yet?

If you do at the last minute will you go?

Alex,
No last min call ups. I would go but just to have a good time. My training is not up to snuff as of right now. Gained 5+ lbs and some strength.

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Tuesday- weird day again.
Warm up, hip circle, some yoga, ohs with the db.. good one.

Practice mu ring swings keeping tight and pushing away from the rings on the back swing. Trying to hold a small towel in between my legs.
5,7,9,11 swings.

Warmup the snatch- complex 1 power, 1 squat and one balance- 75,95,115,135 felt weird again.
Work up to.. well that just did not happen. Fails all the place. Weird for sure. Call it time of death on the snatch. Funny 2 snatch workouts ago I was on the path to do a pr soon.

Switch gears to power clean. 135 felt super light was thinking maybe this will be a good day for that. 135,165,185,215 felt good then 230 was a miss.

Started to do a met con then was not happening yesterday-
50 dubs
10 ohs 135#
2 thrusters…

Enter the dead lift- 135,225,275,325,375,405 then 325x5. Going to do a 12 week cycle on getting to 475. Starting weight 405 and add 5 lbs per week. DL used to be one of my strengths not the max but the reps. Now after those back injuries its gone down. 432# and just missing 440# at the Master's qual was a hell of a day turned out.

Some stretching then home for pity party.. lol..

I am worried about the snatch. My form seems ok but just a lack of execution. It doesn't feel that heavy just awkward.

Will train around it with some heavy pulls, Hang and snatch balance.

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Wed AM- stopped by the gym to stretch and get some water.. got suckered into a met con
12 min ladder-
10 wall balls 30#
2 hspu
12
4
14
6.. and so on.

Ended up doing 22/14 round plus 20 wall balls. The HSPU were un broken.. broke up the wall balls plenty. Got heavy fast. Muscle failure was the key to stay away from. Some sets of 5/3 on the wall balls.

Going tonight to workout at the JGG with my friends Michelle and Tony.
Hope that they have a cool workout.

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

7 min and change.

Then AAB-
10 cal first min

Re: 2014 45-49 Fittest on the Planet goal

Friday took the day off.

Saturday with Coach Kyle and Corey.. they are beasts for sure.

Warm up 4 min am rap
10 light dumbbell push press 25#
10 box jump overs
maybe 4 or 5 rounds

Build to a heavy 5 reps push jerk touch and go.
45,95,135,165,185,205,225.. got a speeding ticket on my back. Little too heavy for me but got the 5 reps. Getting stronger.. the weigh was heavy from the start.

10 min amrap-
Damage control-
3 hspu
2 back squat from the floor- 225#
6
4
9
6
12
8
15
10
18.. all un broken hspu…

Just did not want to aggravate the back anymore.

Sled sprints-
200# to 75 meters x 4 rounds..

Bunch of stretching for sure afterwards and thru out the day.

Went to see my peeps compete at the Police and Fire games. Great job by everyone.
