Why Didn't I Start A Log Earlier? Greg Fischers Log in Fort Worth

I am recovering from an injury that I will call "runner's knee" which basically means that my right knee swells up after long runs...I think it will subside soon as I have been building tremendous leg strength and hope that the new muscle will "shield" the cartilage from inflaming. Anyway, I started training at GSX (Crossfit / Gymnastics Gym) in Fort Worth, TX on January 29th. I do the Crossfit.com WOD as well as assorted Warmups and Post WOD add ons. Sports - snowboarding, soccer, basketball, wakeboarding? (trying it out this year since I no longer live near the mountains), also wanting to buy a bike ( I live 2.5 miles from the base so I figure I can commute some days)

5' 11"
25 Years Old

216 # body weight on January 7th
204 # today, February 13th.

Goal is 190 # by Saint Patty's Day, after I reach this weight it won't matter to me so long as the scale never says 200 until I'm at least 50 years old.

I have been averaging 1500 calories daily and been trying to get myself in the Zone. I have been eating more fruits/veggies and lean meats. Trying my damndest to stay away from freezer meals and canned meals. Also trying to minimize carb intake in the afternoon/evening.

I am active duty in the Navy for 2 more years, and I am also a licensed Texas Realtor. Married with 2 Cats.

Enough background info...

10 am 4 on 4 basketball

5 pm WOD Randy

75 pound Power snatch, 75 reps for time.

I broke these up into 15 sets of fives with about 10 seconds rest average.

67# for the 1st 40 reps.
Bar (45#) for the last 35 reps.

Forgot to watch my time. I will estimate 15 minutes?? I'll get better at this...This workout helped me really focus on form. It was very easy to tell when form was flawed...

Greg,

Yea, definately lower than I would normally consume. I am really trying to get rid of the extra weight I gained while injured. The entire month of January I followed "The Jason Statham Workout" which is more or less a crossfit type metcon workout. I attribute most of my initial weight loss to this training. The weight is coming off slower while following WOD's. I figured I should post my diet on here too, so I'll start tomorrow. Definately planning on upping the calorie consumption once I reach the 185lb-195lb range. I checked out your blog, good insights...Thanks for the comments

12 pm WOD Fran

Three rounds, 21-15- and 9 reps, for time of:
95 pound Thruster
Pull-ups

I modified this as follows:

25# (each) dumbell thrusters
Assisted Pull Ups (Blue elastic band)

Thrusters went smoothly. Broken sets by 1/2 on 15 reps and 9 reps.
Pull Ups were broken up. 12/5/4 15 seconds of rest between, 9/4/2, 6/3.

11 Minutes on the nose. This week destroyed my shoulders and back! I know other people feel the same. Glad I have a rest from crossfit tomorrow! I have to say though, I haven't felt better in a long time...

Run 5 K

I modified as follows

Run 4 k

I took about 15-20 minutes. I used an extra knee wrap this time, and I didn't feel ANY knee pain. I really focused on form this time, I could tell when I ran "fatigued" that my knee was stressed. I will have to read more about the "pose". But I felt best when I tried to run like Sonic the Hedgehog, like a continuous rolling ball, I didn't let my weight "fall" on my leg but ran in a "circle". Anyway, I'm, just glad I didn't feel any pain. I will time my 5k next time.
