Hookgrip

Please tell me you follow Hookgrip on Instagram or Facebook. I love seeing video clips of beautiful lifts every day.

Feast your eyes on a 425# snatch:

And a 566.5# clean:

Look how little the bar moves after the second pull!

Re: Hookgrip

Yeah, Ruslan and Lovchev are badass. I don't catch IG much except when it's linked on FB because I only have IG on my phone and only use it on that rare occasion I'm using IG actually on my phone.

Re: Hookgrip

Yes, I follow hookgrip. I think my lifts would improve a lot if I could lift in slow motion with overly dramatic music playing.

Re: Hookgrip

Lots of good stuff on there, but I'm not a fan of slow motion videos. It exaggerates some positions (mainly the layback at the top) that people then try to mimic and doesn't show the tempo/rhythm of a lift.

Re: Hookgrip

I have to share this video:

https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=797463263641833 (wfs)

The third pull on his snatch is unbelievable. His feet jump back and up, but change direction mid-air and land down and forward. He is really pulling against the momentum of the bar for this to happen.

The video shows one failed lift, then two good lifts. Watch how poorly he lands on his third lift, and yet he still saves it. He is really pushing the limits of his ability! There is no doubt he is committed to the lift.

... and I still turn my head to the side when the bar goes overhead.

Re: Hookgrip

There is do and do not...

The 3 side by side are amazing to watch. You can see the bar just a little forward on the fail and it is perfect on the 2nd and back a little on the 3rd.

I do find it easier to recover a little behind vs infront.

Amazing how these guys commit no matter what.
