I am going to pick up a real log or two Friday.

I was wondering what I should look for in a log?

I was looking for a 4-5 foot long and 10-12" diameter log to start...is that about right?

Are there any hints as to cutting out the handles and putting on weight bars?

Thanks!

The one on the left is 145 pounds and my neighbor is going to use it as throwing log.

After:

This one weighs 125 pounds and is just under 10" thick. My next step is to install handles and weight posts.
