Nagging right knee

Just when i'm planning on ramping up my training to potentially start competing I get my very first knee injury. Being a hockey goalie all my life I am surprised it hasn't happened sooner.

I don't know what is exactly going on just yet but thought I would put it out here and see if anyone has had a similar injury and if so what you did to fix it up quick.

Problem: At first the pain was when I was squatting. It started in both knees but the left knee has gotten better on its own. The pain was first prominant under the patella. Now the pain is both under and over the patella with pain also at the top of my knee. If i'm getting up out of the truck or my chair it's a 7 out of 10 on the pain scale.

Once it's warmed up the pain reduces to around a 4 or 5. However once I get under a heavier load it rises back up to a 7-8. So it's holding me back tremendously.

Any advice is very much appreciated.
Thanx in advance
Mark

Re: Nagging right knee

most likely patellar tendonitis. modify to the point of no pain during activities and be careful when you say warming up is helpful as that is hallmark of tendonitis. It loosens up then comes back a vengeance.
